Job Description

About InterFinancial:  At InterFinancial, we work with midmarket companies (valued between AUD$20-350m) when they want to sell, acquire other companies, raise capital or prepare for investment. Our team are globally experienced M&A professionals and industry leaders working across sectors such as Health, Technology, Clean Energy, Business Services and Consumer and Retail.   We’ve worked on major deals like advising Brighter Super on their acquisition of Suncorp Super, the merger of Terry White Chemist Group and Chemmart, and securing a partner for Poolwerx for its expansion into the US.   InterFinancial is part of Clairfield International – a partnership of midmarket M&A advisors in 32 countries around the world. So, as part of the InterFinancial team, you get the best of both worlds – a small, nimble Australian company with deep roots in Queensland, and a large global company working at the forefront of M&A around the world.   About the role:  We’re looking for a talented Associate to join our high-performing team.  This is an exciting opportunity for a driven finance professional to accelerate their M&A career in a collaborative, strategic, and growth-focused environment. At InterFinancial, you’ll work closely with experienced dealmakers, gain exposure to complex transactions, and play a key role in delivering exceptional outcomes for our clients.  What will you do?  As an Associate, you'll play a key role in the execution of transactions across a broad range of sectors. Working directly with senior leadership, you will: Support end-to-end M&A transactions, including both buy-side and sell-side mandates. Build and review financial models (DCF, three-way models) to support valuation and decision-making. Conduct company valuations, industry research, and market analysis to inform deal strategy. Prepare client presentations, information memorandums, and pitch materials for transactions and advisory projects. Partner closely with senior leaders to manage deal mandates and deliver clear, actionable financial and strategic recommendations across M&A and due diligence assignments. Oversee project management and coordination across all stages of the transaction process. Guide and develop junior staff, providing mentorship, feedback, and support to ensure strong outcomes. Build and maintain long-term, trust-based relationships with clients, internal stakeholders, and team members. Apply financial analysis and commercial insight to help clients identify key value drivers, risks, and growth opportunities. Contribute to business development by identifying new opportunities through existing relationships and cultivating new client connections. Play an active role in shaping the strategic direction and development of the practice.   Job requirements – what do you need?  Minimum 4 years of experience in Corporate Finance, Transaction Services, Valuations, Consulting or Investment Banking. Strong financial modelling, commercial and analytical capabilities. Strong MS Excel and PowerPoint skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A proactive mindset and ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. A degree in Commerce, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.  As a dynamic and growing company, our people are very important to us. We offer you:   Work on high-impact midmarket transactions with direct access to experienced dealmakers and clients.   A friendly, open-minded team environment.  Regular team building and social events. The opportunity to make a difference in a caring, vibrant work environment focused on improvement and success. Brisbane CBD office location with excellent End-of-Trip facilities.
