We help clients make informed decisions and achieve their long-term goals.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, fully remote role for an Associate Controller serving a portfolio of multiple fast-growing clients, many of which are investor backed.It’s an opportunity to join a modern, fast-growing firm early and help shape how we serve clients. Unlike traditional CPA firms that mainly focus on historical compliance and year-end work, Dedicated Books is built around forward-looking, strategic support that helps clients run and grow their businesses. In this role, you’ll also work directly with the founder, gaining exposure to how a high-impact finance function is built and scaled.You’ll act as an extension of each client’s finance team, ensuring clean, reliable financials while building towards a more strategic, insight-driven role over time. For some clients, you will own the full accounting process end-to-end; for others, you will oversee internal or external bookkeepers and be accountable for review, structure, and controller-level quality control. You should be comfortable leveraging technology and automation tools to improve processes, accuracy, and efficiency.Key responsibilities include:Managing the monthly close and financial reporting process for assigned clients, delivering accurate, GAAP-aligned financial statements on time.Handling or overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including AP/AR, transaction posting, and general ledger maintenance.Performing and/or reviewing close activities such as bank and credit card reconciliations, key balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis.Restructuring and optimizing client financial operations and core accounting infrastructure (e.g., chart of accounts, invoicing, payables, expense management, and cash management workflows) so their finance function is organized, scalable, and well-controlled.Communicating directly with clients to walk through monthly financials, explain variances, answer questions, and translate financial data into clear, practical insights.Support and/or create budgets, forecasts, and cash flow planning, with increasing involvement in strategic discussions as you grow in the role.Identify trends and opportunities in client financials and collaborate with the founder and senior team members on recommendations to improve margins, cash flow, and performance.This role is ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation who enjoys working with multiple businesses, is not afraid to adopt new tools, and wants to grow into a more strategic, client-facing finance role.QualificationsApproximately 3–8 years of experience in accounting or finance (e.g., public accounting, outsourced accounting, or in-house general accounting/controller-type role).Strong foundation in core accounting: bookkeeping general ledger, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.Understanding of accounting principles and financial controls, with interest in standardizing and improving processes for clients.Hands-on experience with reconciliations (bank, credit card, and key balance sheet accounts).Comfort working in accounting software (especially QuickBooks Online), and cloud-based digital tools; eager to leverage new technology to drive accuracy and efficiency.Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines in a remote work environment.Clear written and verbal communication skills with a client-service mindset and ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.Bachelor’s degree required; CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification preferred.Genuine interest in developing a more strategic, forward-looking finance skill set on top of a strong controller-style foundation.Compensation & BenefitsBase salary with a competitive incentive structure tied to impact and performance.Health insurance, 401(k) plan, paid holidays and PTO.
