A Board Member at Yogahood Australia will contribute to strategic planning and organizational governance, ensuring the non-profit achieves its mission. Responsibilities include attending regular board meetings, providing guidance on fundraising and outreach efforts, and supporting decision-making processes that align with the organization's vision. Board Members may also liaise with stakeholders, foster partnerships, and advocate for the importance of yoga in underserved communities.QualificationsStrong experience in organizational leadership, strategic planning, or governanceSkills in fundraising, grant writing, marketing, or public relationsPassion for yoga, wellness, or community outreach initiativesEffective communication and collaboration abilitiesExperience in non-profit or social service settings is an advantageUnderstanding of diverse community needs and a commitment to inclusionBoard Member (Legal Professional) – Volunteer PositionLocation: Hybrid About the RoleYogahood Australia is seeking an experienced legal professional to join our Board of Directors.As a Board Member, you will provide strategic guidance, contribute to organisational decision-making, and ensure effective governance. You will play a key role in supporting Yogahood’s mission, helping strengthen our compliance, governance, and strategic integrity as we grow our impact.This volunteer position is based in Melbourne, with monthly virtual meetings and occasional in-person commitments.Key ResponsibilitiesAttend and actively contribute to regular board meetings and special sessions as required.Provide guidance on legal and governance matters, ensuring the organisation’s ongoing compliance.Review and help develop policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives.Support the development of budgets, funding agreements, and strategic plans from a legal perspective.Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of new board members.Represent and advocate for Yogahood Australia at events and stakeholder meetings.Support relationship-building with legal, regulatory, and community partners.Contribute legal insight to fundraising and partnership agreements.Qualifications and AttributesStrong commitment to Yogahood Australia’s mission and values.Proven experience in the legal sector, ideally with expertise in not-for-profit governance, charity law, or compliance.Sound understanding of legal frameworks relevant to not-for-profit organisations.Demonstrated leadership, strategic thinking, and sound judgment.Experience in governance, financial oversight, or risk management.Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.Experience in fundraising, community outreach, or stakeholder engagement is desirable.An interest in yoga, mindfulness, or wellbeing practices is highly valued but not essential.Time CommitmentMinimum two-year term, with the option for renewal.Monthly virtual board meetings, with additional committee or organisational activities as needed.This is a voluntary (unpaid) role.
