By providing business development solutions, guidance, and support, we help Indigenous entrepreneurs start, build and grow their business.As a member of the ANTCO team you are valued, respected and supported.THE OPPORTUNITYThe Business Development and Relations Officer plays an important role in supporting entrepreneurship and business development for Indigenous people and communities throughout the Okanagan region. Reporting to the Business Loans Manager, this position is responsible for promoting ANTCO's lending programs, assessing and recommending loan applications, and managing a regional portfolio of clients.This is a remote position based in the Okanagan region of British Columbia, and the successful applicant must reside within the region. The role focuses on cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with Indigenous entrepreneurs, communities, and organizations to build ANTCO's presence and market share in the area. It offers meaningful, community-centered work and the opportunity to strengthen Indigenous economic development across the province.Key ResponsibilitiesClient Engagement and Business DevelopmentDevelop and execute strategies to attract new Indigenous business clients and strengthen existing relationshipsBuild and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous entrepreneurs, communities, and organizations across the OkanaganMeet clients and prospective clients at their place of business to review business plans, provide guidance, and connect them with available resourcesExpand ANTCO's network by cultivating referral sources and community partnerships to support business growthPromote awareness of ANTCO's programs and services through outreach, events, and active participation in the business communityMaintain a strong understanding of the local market and develop relationships with centres of influence to enhance visibility and opportunitiesLending and Portfolio ManagementAssess, structure, and prepare business credit applications, ensuring sound credit and risk management practicesProvide both pre- and post-lending support, with a strong focus on aftercare through ongoing mentorship, business check-ins, site visits, and capacity-building workshops that help clients succeed beyond the loanManage a portfolio of clients, ensuring timely follow-up, accurate documentation, and effective collaboration with internal teamsTrack portfolio performance, identify areas for improvement, and contribute to continuous process enhancementClient Service and Relationship ManagementDeliver exceptional client service, maintaining a high level of professionalism, responsiveness, and cultural awarenessBuild trust and long-term relationships by providing consistent, reliable, and community-centered supportCompliance and AdministrationEnsure all lending and account management activities are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with ANTCO's policies and proceduresProtect the confidentiality and security of client and organizational information at all timesApply sound judgment and discretion in decision-making, maintaining integrity in all business dealingsPrepare and maintain accurate reports, records, and documentation to support internal and external reporting requirementsPerform additional duties as required to support departmental and organizational prioritiesRequirements4-6 years of relevant experience and a post-secondary degree in a related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceExperience working with Indigenous communities and businesses is a strong asset and highly valued in this roleDemonstrated ability to work independently and manage priorities with a high degree of self-motivation, accountability, and initiativeStrong relationship management and client service skills, with a proven ability to build trust and deliver exceptional service to a diverse range of clients and community partnersStrong financial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret financial statements, assess creditworthiness, and provide actionable insights to drive business growth and mitigate riskExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with Indigenous entrepreneurs, communities, and organizationsWillingness to participate in community and cultural events to support and strengthen relationships across the regionAble to work remotely and travel throughout the Okanagan region to meet with clients and attend community engagementsSkilled in leveraging technology and digital platforms to stay organized, manage client relationships, and support efficient service deliveryBenefitsLocation: Must be based in the Okanagan Region (ANTCO office is located in Kamloops, BC)Travel Requirement: Regular travel within the Okanagan (2-3 days per week) and occasional travel to the Kootenays (approximately once per quarter or as needed)Travel Reimbursement: Mileage is reimbursed for business travel as the role requiresPosition Type: Full-TimeSalary: $70,000 -$85,000, based on skill set and experienceBenefits: Extended health, vision, and dental coverageVariable Compensation: Eligible for a performance-based incentive programCoverage: Long-term disability and life insurancePension: Employer-supported programAdditional Time Off: Year-end office closure
