SENIOR BI DEVELOPERPosition OverviewLead the design, development, and deployment of Power BI dashboards and reports for Sound Transit's Service Delivery operations. This role requires deep expertise in Power BI, data visualization, and analytics solution architecture to deliver actionable insights for service performance, ridership, safety, and customer experience metrics.Need Transportation Exp OR Government Sector Experience. Project DetailsDuration: 10-14 months (November 2025 - December 2026)Work Location: RemoteKey ResponsibilitiesPower BI Development (50% of time)Design and develop Power BI dashboards covering:Create executive dashboards for board-level reportingBuild monthly business review templatesDevelop federal reporting templates with automated data extractionDesign public-facing dashboards with accessibility compliance (WCAG, Section 508)Implement advanced analytics including trend analysis and predictive insightsOptimize report performance and user experienceDAX & Calculations (20% of time)Develop complex DAX measures and calculated columnsCreate time intelligence calculations for trend analysisBuild KPI logic aligned with business definitionsOptimize DAX for performance and maintainabilityImplement row-level security where requiredDocument all calculation logic with business contextData Visualization & UX (15% of time)Design intuitive, user-friendly dashboard layoutsImplement interactive filters and drill-through capabilitiesApply data visualization best practicesEnsure accessibility compliance (WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508)Create consistent visual standards across reporting suiteDesign for both desktop and mobile experiencesDocumentation (15% of time)Document data models, DAX calculations, and transformation logicCreate technical specifications and architecture diagramsWrite user guides and administrator documentationMaintain version-controlled documentation repositoryAnnotate complex calculations with business logic explanationsRequired QualificationsExperience:7+ years in Business Intelligence development5+ years of hands-on Power BI development (required)Expert-level DAX proficiency with complex calculationsExperience with large-scale enterprise BI implementationsBackground in transportation, operations, or public sector analytics preferredTechnical Skills:Expert: Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, Power Query (M)Proficient: Data modeling (star schema, snowflake schema)Proficient: Data visualization and UX design principlesWorking knowledge: SQL for data validationFamiliar with: Azure ecosystem, data governance frameworksAccessibility standards implementation (WCAG, Section 508)Performance tuning and optimization techniquesVersion control (Git) for BI artifactsCertifications (Preferred):Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst AssociateMicrosoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer AssociateOther relevant Microsoft BI certifications
