Chef (Local & Continental Cuisine)Reports To:House Manager / PrincipalLocation: IkoyiEmployment Type: Live-inSalary Range: ₦250,000 – ₦350,000 monthlyJob Summary:The Chef will be responsible for planning, preparing, and presenting high-quality meals that combine both local Nigerian and continental cuisines. She will ensure all dishes are nutritious, flavorful, and tailored to the preferences of the household or principal while maintaining strict hygiene, organization, and food safety standards in the kitchen.Key Responsibilities:Plan and prepare daily menus — including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks — based on client preferences and dietary requirements.Cook and present a wide range of local/Nigerian meals (e.g., jollof rice, egusi soup, pounded yam, ofada sauce, etc.) and continental dishes (e.g., pasta, grilled meats, salads, seafood, soups, pastries, and finger foods).Source, purchase, and store fresh ingredients while managing kitchen inventory efficiently.Maintain cleanliness, order, and hygiene within the kitchen and pantry at all times.Ensure food preparation and serving meet health, hygiene, and safety standards.Cater for family events, guest entertainment, and special occasions as required.Develop creative weekly meal plans balancing taste, nutrition, and variety.Monitor food costs, manage budgets, and minimize waste.Collaborate with other household staff to ensure smooth service delivery.Requirements & Skills:3–5 years of proven experience as a chef or cook in a private residence, restaurant, or hospitality environment.Excellent knowledge of local Nigerian and continental cuisines.Ability to create visually appealing, high-quality meals and presentations.Understanding of nutrition, dietary preferences, and balanced meal planning.Strong sense of cleanliness, organization, and professional kitchen etiquette.Excellent time management, multitasking, and attention to detail.Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure in fast-paced settings.Must be trustworthy, respectful, discreet, and dependable.Education & Certifications:Culinary or Catering Certificate (preferred but not mandatory).Food Safety & Hygiene Certification (an added advantage).
