The CEO will lead the company through its next phase of growth - strengthening sales capability, improving operational performance, and embedding the systems and discipline required to scale. Working closely with the founders, management team, and private equity partners, the CEO will align all stakeholders around a clear, actionable plan for sustainable, profitable expansion.The Company is long-established, family-owned distributor and solutions provider specialising in battery and power systems for mid-market and industrial applications. The company combines product distribution with in-house engineering and design capability to deliver tailored energy solutions across Australia. Key focus area for growth is pack assembly for Australian OEMs across mining, health, mobility with significant expansion opportunities.With a strong technical base and trusted supplier relationships, the company is now focused on scaling under private equity ownership - building a more proactive sales function, upgrading systems, and improving efficiency and margin performance.Key responsibilities and scope of role:Growth & StrategyLead the execution of the Company’s growth strategy, expanding market reach and improving revenue quality while protecting margin performance.Develop and implement a clear go-to-market model across retail, distribution and engineered energy solutions.Identify and prioritise opportunities in key market segments including industrial, energy storage, defence, mobility and communications.Drive disciplined strategic planning and translate strategy into measurable results with clear execution milestones.Commercial Leadership Build a high-performing commercial organisation with strong sales processes, account planning and disciplined performance planning.Enhance margin quality through pricing governance, customer segmentation and focused product portfolio management.Establish a structured business development pipeline and improve commercial visibility through accurate forecasting and reporting.Introduce marketing as a growth driver to generate demand, strengthen brand positioning and support market expansion.Engineering & Product DeliveryStrengthen engineering capability and align technical priorities with commercial priorities to drive profitable growth.Improve the structure, project management and delivery discipline across custom assembly and engineered energy solutions.Introduce a product and solution roadmap that balances standardisation with customer-specific design and innovation.Ensure engineering effort consistently translates into commercial value through improved project scoping, costing and delivery execution.Leadership, People & CultureBuild a capable, accountable leadership team aligned to the Company’s growth priorities.Establish clear roles, communication rhythm and decision-making structure across teams and sites.Lead cultural alignment through transformation, balancing performance expectations with collaboration and respect.Develop leadership capability and succession depth to support scaling and long-term success.Governance & Value CreationPartner with the Board and private equity investors to execute the value creation plan.Establish business cadence through regular reviews, dashboards and data-driven decision-making.Strengthen financial reporting, operational controls and performance transparency to support sustainable growth.Skills, background and experienceExperience: 15+ years of progressive leadership experience including at least one CEO or GM role at scale.Transformational Leadership:Experience leading change across culture, systems, and structure to drive scalability and efficiency.Hands-on leadership of initiatives such as digital enablement, process redesign, systems implementation, or post-merger integration.PE Mindset & Value Creation:Experience in a PE-backed environment is preferred.Evidence of value creation and/or successful exit (e.g., sale, recapitalisation, IPO) desirableUnderstanding value levers, and exit strategies (EBITDA growth, margin expansion, and multiple enhancement).P&L Ownership: Proven experience managing full P&L accountability for businesses of comparable size (over $50 mm in revenue) and complexity.Industry background: Experience in adjacent sectors where operational scaling, brand building, or channel development are key levers (e.g., B2C, B2B, manufacturing, or technology).Mid-market transformation: Experience leading businesses through transition from founder-led to institutionally managed operations.High-Performance Culture: Builds and aligns teams around clear goals and accountability; attracts, develops, and retains top talent.Communication & Influence: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire internal teams, investors, and external partners.To be considered, please submit your resume and a cover letter (outlining your core capability for the role, demonstrated experience of how you have delivered outcomes and why this role is of interest) both in Word format by selecting the “apply now” function.Confidential enquiries can be made to Peter Starling, Client Partner on 0433 422 518.
