Chief Geologist -Gold

JOB TITLE : Chief Geologist JOB LOCATION : MauritaniaBUSINESS UNIT : Mining & MetalSUB_BUSINESS_UNIT : GoldDEPARTMENT : Geology & MiningKEY RESPONSBILITIES· Coordination & lead the exploration team activities to safely and timely meet business needs for different projects · Exploration Budget preparation for different projects.· Compilation of exploration data and validate for different sites.· Database management, Map preparation, QAQC and geological section up-gradation.· Accountable for safe, timely and on budget execution of exploration/prospecting/drilling programs.· Accountable for company’s exploration and sample management systems.· Interpretation of geophysical and geochemical data for exploration work. · Facilitate inter-departmental coordination to ensure clear and open communication. · Resource and Reserve estimations and model preparation.· Responsible for ensuring the business develops an ongoing and increasing better understanding of regional and local geology.· Responsible for all geology team related financial matters for smooth running of work. · Must have knowledge on mining software like Surpac, Datamine, Micromine, ArcGIS, Global Mapper, AutoCAD etc.· Produce Mineral Resource statements/reports in line with international reporting code guidelines.· Collaborate with other technical disciplines, e.g., engineering, environment, mining, survey etc.· Critically review and evaluate Mineral Resource estimations prepared by other parties (due diligence).· Assist with auditing and production of technical-economic models for financial evaluations of projects and/or mining operations.· Provide guidance and training on site to ensure smooth running of work.· Assist mining team for Quality control activities, as per requirement. · Reconciliation of resource/reserve on periodical basis. · The above items are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all accountabilities and duties. FUNCTIONAL SKILLS· Exploration (mapping, drilling, core logging, sampling, laboratory analysis)· Quality assurance and control for metal, base metal and precious metal deposits.· Geological modelling (using digital software)· Mineral resource estimation· Knowledge of JORC/NI 43-101 mineral resources reporting systems· Report writing & project update presentation preparation· Exploration Budget preparation· Experienced with various mining and GIS software’s i.e. Surpac, Datamine, Micromine, Leapfrog, ArcGIS, Map Info, Global Mapper etc. and knowledge on drone survey· Metallurgical Test worksBEHAVIOURAL SKILLS· Strong communication and Leadership abilities.· Attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis.· Ability to work independently and in remote locations.· Commitment to safety and quality standards.· Adaptability and willingness to learn new techniques. QUALIFICATION· M. Sc. / M. Tech - GeologyEXPERIENCE· 20-25 Years Experience with Greenfields gold exploration, geophysical and geochemical methods, and drilling programs. Minimum 5 years of experience in Gold Exploration or Mining.CERTIFICATIONS· Membership in an Internationally recognized Geoscientist Organization is an added advantage. SELECTION CRITERIA· 25 to 30 years of experience in Geological / mining activities process· Proficiency in managing a team· Should have exposure of Green-field projects. Well-versed in handling Mining management and Administration task.· Candidate should possess Leadership qualities and should be Go-getter.Planning & Organising.
