Our focus is to provide insights into African excellence and celebrate its diverse heritage.Role DescriptionThis is a hybrid role based in Lagos for an Editorial Researcher, Content Strategy. The Editorial Researcher will lead contributor and event research, produce a weekly culture‑intel digest, and translate insights into clear content plans. They will craft and schedule social programming, track performance to inform decisions, and partner with editors and design to ensure on‑brand execution and timely delivery.Core responsibilitiesEditorial researchBuild contributor maps across Africa and the diaspora. Vet writing samples and niches.Track cultural events, festivals, fairs, launches, and relevant moments with dates, contacts, and access notes.Maintain a weekly “What’s Happening” intelligence digest to feed story pitches and programming.Social programmingOwn monthly content calendars across Instagram and adjacent channels.Draft on‑brand captions, source assets, prep story sequences, and schedule posts.Monitor performance, synthesize learnings, and recommend next steps.Build and maintain community across channelsContent opsKeep research databases updated and tidy in Notion.Prepare short briefs for contributors and internal reviews.Coordinate light outreach lists for contributors, events, and partners.Resourcing and vendor managementSource, vet, and onboard freelancers and partnersNegotiate scope, rates, timelines, and contracts; ensure deliverable qualityResearch operationsSet interview/survey plans, book sessions, manage incentives, research across broad objectivesMaintain a tidy repository and synthesize insights for editorial decisionsEditorial productionCreate briefs and production schedules for features and socialsManage copy, images, and layout through review to finalQA and deliveryEnsure specs, rights, captions, and links are correctManage approvals and final handoff to print/digital channelsQualifications2+ years in editorial/content operations, production, or campaign project managementCoachable, growth-minded, and receptive to feedback with a bias for actionStrong social media marketing experience across Instagram and related channelsData fluent: able to read dashboards, spot patterns, and translate metrics into clear next stepsDemonstrated ability to stand up lightweight processes and ship consistentlyStrong vendor and freelancer managementExcellent communication, documentation, and follow-throughComfortable with ambiguity and context switchingWrite clearly and concisely, with an elegant, human toneAre organized and fast: you turn ambiguity into structured, usable intelTools: Notion, Google Suite, Slack, Canva, Social schedulers and analytics; bonus for Figma, Airtable, AsanaNice-to-havesExperience across luxury, culture, or lifestyle mediaDemonstrate strong taste and curiosity across art, design, fashion, hospitality, and ideasFamiliarity with basic analytics and paid social workflowsLight design sense to QA assets against brand standardsCompensation and BenefitsCompetitive compensation tailored to experience and scope of responsibilityFlexible, project-based structure with path to retained or full-time as we scaleAccess to contributor network, industry events, and growth opportunitiesTools and learning budget to support execution and development
