Chief PHP Developer

We are looking for an experienced Chief PHP Developer to join our team.This role requires a deep understanding of PHP development and hands-on experience in improving and refactoring legacy systems while creating scalable new features. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive the technical direction of the product and ensure its long-term success. ResponsibilitiesEvaluate and improve the client’s legacy system, primarily built with PHP (Sugar/SuiteCRM) and a Java backendAddress performance and stability challenges, resolve bottlenecks, and recommend architectural improvementsCollaborate with Solution Architects, Product Owners, and other teams to create and implement new product featuresPromote simple and effective solutions while supporting the development of new functionalitiesOversee client onboarding processes and customize design changes based on client needsWork closely with vendor development teams, including offshore teams in IndiaServe as a client-facing representative to ensure effective communication and alignment with American clientsSupport migration initiatives, including transitioning infrastructure from AWS to AzureAssess current architectural solutions and provide recommendations for best practices RequirementsAt least 7 years of experience in PHP developmentA minimum of 2 years of experience leading and managing development teamsParticipation in at least 2 full-cycle projects or multiple projects across various development lifecycle phasesAdvanced expertise with PHP 5+ and optimization tools like OPCACHE/APC and PHP lintersStrong knowledge of MySQL, including transactions, ACID principles, and slow log performance tuningUnderstanding of CodeReview processes and experience with CI/CD pipelinesHands-on experience with Docker for application containerizationProficiency in Redis or Memcache for caching solutionsFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and workflowsFluent English language skills, both written and spoken, at a B2+ level or higher Nice to haveExperience with .NET technologiesKnowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud servicesExpertise in refactoring using tools like xDebugFamiliarity with profiling tools such as xhproofBackground in developing and customizing SugarCRM systems We offerInternational projects with top brandsWork with global teams of highly skilled, diverse peersHealthcare benefitsEmployee financial programsPaid time off and sick leaveUpskilling, reskilling and certification coursesUnlimited access to the LinkedIn Learning library and 22,000+ coursesGlobal career opportunitiesVolunteer and community involvement opportunitiesEPAM Employee GroupsAward-winning culture recognized by Glassdoor, Newsweek and LinkedIn
