The Elder Scrolls 6 is still 'a long way off,' says Todd Howard

It may have been seven years since Bethesda Game Studios announced The Elder Scrolls 6, but fans shouldn’t expect to see it any time soon. The game is still “a long way off” according to Executive Producer Todd Howard, though it’s now Bethesda’s primary focus. Todd Howard was speaking with GQ for a retrospective about Fallout 4 when the next Elder Scrolls game inevitably came up. “I’m preaching patience,” he said, after stating that the game is still far off from release. “I don’t want fans to feel anxious.” Howard went on to confirm that The Elder Scrolls 6 is being worked on daily at Bethesda Game Studios, and that an internal play test was conducted the day before the interview. He also talked about what the eventual release of The Elder Scrolls 6 could look like. “I like to just announce stuff and release it. My perfect version – and I’m not saying this is going to happen – is that it's going to be a while and then, one day, the game will just appear.” When asked about a potential shadow drop for The Elder Scrolls 6 following the shadow drop of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered earlier this year, Todd Howard didn’t dismiss the idea. “You might say that was a test run,” he said. “It worked out well.” The Elder Scrolls 6 was announced during Bethesda’s press conference at E3 2018.
