Role The Claims Manager – Marine Practice will be responsible for managing all aspects of marine claims across Hull, Cargo, Marine Liability, and associated marine lines. The role focuses on delivering superior claims servicing to clients, ensuring fair and timely settlements, maintaining strong relationships with insurers, surveyors, and adjusters, and driving continuous improvement in claims handling standards.The position requires a technically proficient professional who can manage complex and high-value claims, support client advocacy, and uphold Lockton’s commitment to excellence in claims management.Key Responsibilities Claims Management & ServicingLead the end-to-end management of marine claims (Hull, Cargo, Liability, Marine Transit, and associated risks) from notification to settlement.Review claims documentation, assess coverage, and ensure compliance with policy terms and conditions.Liaise with clients, insurers, surveyors, adjusters, and legal counsel to facilitate efficient and equitable claim resolutions.Provide regular claim status updates, analysis, and management reports to clients and internal stakeholders.Negotiate settlements with insurers and advocate on behalf of clients to ensure fair outcomes.Maintain a robust claims register and ensure timely claims notifications and reporting.Client Advocacy & Relationship ManagementServe as the primary point of contact for marine claims across key client accounts.Participate in client meetings, renewal reviews, and risk discussions to provide claims insights and trend analysis.Deliver claims reviews and performance reports, identifying loss trends and recommending risk mitigation measures.Support clients in establishing claims procedures, documentation standards, and loss-prevention strategies.Market & Stakeholder EngagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with underwriters, loss adjusters, surveyors, and legal experts to enhance claims efficiency and transparency.Collaborate with placement teams to provide feedback on insurer claims performance and support market selection decisions.Represent the Marine Practice in insurer claim review sessions and technical forums.Process Excellence & ComplianceEnsure all claims activities adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and service-level commitments.Drive continuous improvement in claims handling processes, documentation standards, and turnaround times.Maintain accurate claims records and contribute to internal audits and compliance reviews.
