Job Title: Communications CoordinatorLocation: Colombo, Sri Lanka Type: Full-time Summary of the RoleThe Communications Coordinator plays a key role in enhancing the visibility, credibility, and impact of Chrysalis through effective communication and storytelling. The position is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that amplify the voices of the communities we serve, highlight project outcomes, and strengthen engagement with donors, partners, media, and the public.Working closely with the Manager – Communications, programme/project teams, and external partners, the Coordinator will create and manage diverse communication materials — including social media content, reports, newsletters, press releases, and multimedia stories — ensuring consistency with Chrysalis’ brand identity and values. The role supports both internal and external communication needs, contributing to our mission of promoting gender equality, inclusion, and sustainable development across Sri Lanka. About the Communications DepartmentThe Communications Department at Chrysalis leads the organization’s visibility, brand identity, and engagement efforts across all platforms. It develops impactful communication strategies that support advocacy, resource mobilization, and stakeholder engagement.Working closely with programme teams, the department documents and shares evidence-based results and human stories that highlight Chrysalis’ contributions to gender equality, inclusive economic growth, peacebuilding, and resilience. It also maintains strong relationships with media and partners, ensuring Chrysalis is recognized as a credible and trusted advocate for inclusive development. Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and produce communication content including social media, newsletters, reports, press releases, and website updates.Document case studies and human-interest stories from field projects.Manage and monitor social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).Design and coordinate digital campaigns and promotional materials aligned with brand guidelines.Support communication for organizational events, campaigns, and launches.Maintain the communications archive (photos, videos, publications, media contacts).Monitor analytics and prepare reports on social media and campaign reach.Collaborate with programme teams to extract data, visuals, and stories that highlight project impact.Support media relations and coordinate media coverage.Contribute to internal communication and knowledge-sharing initiatives within Chrysalis. Required Qualifications and ExperienceEducation:Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, Development Studies, or a related field.(Desirable) Postgraduate qualification or certification in Communications, Digital Media, or Public Relations.Experience:Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in communications, preferably within the NGO, development, or social impact sectors.Proven experience in writing, editing, and managing digital content and campaigns.(Desirable) Experience in gender equality, social inclusion, peacebuilding, community development, donor communications, or media engagement. Skills and CompetenciesStrong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in English and Sinhala/Tamil.Proficiency in social media management and digital communication tools.Knowledge of brand management and ethical storytelling.Basic graphic design, photography, and video editing skills.Excellent organizational and time management abilities.Knowledge of data visualization and digital analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, SEO).Familiarity with donor communication guidelines and reporting standards.Commitment to Chrysalis’ values of inclusivity, transparency, and empowerment.
