Sumathi Holdings, a leading conglomerate in Sri Lanka with a diversified portfolio of businesses, is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven professional to join our team as Manager – Tax. Our subsidiaries operate across multiple sectors, contributing to the Group’s continued growth and success.We are looking for a dynamic individual with strong technical expertise and strategic insight to lead the Group’s overall tax strategy and governance, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and optimization of all tax-related activities across subsidiaries.Duties and Responsibilities:Lead and oversee the Group’s direct and indirect tax matters, including Income Tax, VAT, ESC, WHT and other statutory obligations, ensuring full and timely compliance with prevailing regulations.Review and sign off tax computations, returns, provisional tax estimates and payments for all entities within the Group, ensuring alignment with Inland Revenue and other statutory deadlines.Lead engagement with external auditors, tax consultants, and tax authorities on assessments, audits, appeals and rulings, ensuring matters are resolved efficiently while safeguarding the Group’s financial interests.Provide strategic tax advisory support for business transactions, restructuring, investments, cross-border transactions and new ventures, ensuring optimal tax positioning and risk mitigation.Establish, implement and continuously strengthen internal tax governance frameworks, policies, SOPs and documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and effective tax risk management across all business units.Partner closely with Group Finance and senior leadership to drive tax planning, forecasting, scenario analysis and cash flow optimization, contributing to strategic decision-making and long-term value creation.The Ideal Candidate Should Possess:A postgraduate qualification in Taxation is essential; a recognized professional qualification such as CA Sri Lanka or equivalent will be a distinct advantage.Minimum of 7–8 years of progressive experience in taxation, including at least 3–4 years in a reputed tax consulting firm and/or in a senior tax role in a diversified group.Strong, up-to-date knowledge of Sri Lankan tax laws and regulations, Inland Revenue practices, and practical exposure to applying IFRS in tax-related matters.Proven experience in handling tax audits, assessments, appeals and advisory assignments, with a demonstrable track record of managing tax risk and achieving favourable outcomes.Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior management, external advisors and regulatory bodies.A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong leadership, planning and organizational skills, capable of independently driving the Group’s tax agenda and mentoring junior team members where applicable.What We Offer:A dynamic and collaborative working environment within one of Sri Lanka’s most respected business groups.Opportunities for professional growth, exposure to diversified industries, and continuous learning.The opportunity to play a key strategic role in shaping the Group’s tax governance, risk management and overall financial compliance framework.
