A Brief OverviewThe Corporate Development & Strategic Ventures role is a finance professional responsible for supporting mergers & acquisitions (M&A), strategic partnership/investment opportunities, strategic venture capital and private equity investments, and enterprise growth initiatives across Western & Southern Financial Group (W&S). This position plays a key role in identifying and analyzing acquisition targets, partnership opportunities, and other corporate development activities that align with enterprise growth strategies. The role works cross-functionally with senior leaders in finance, legal, information technology (IT), operations, and business units (BUs), and supports the execution of transactions from due diligence through post-deal integration. The role also involves market intelligence gathering, competitive analysis, and the management of key stakeholder relationships both internal and external.What you will doSupport the identification, evaluation, and execution of transactions, including M&A, strategic partnership/investment opportunities, strategic venture capital (VC) investments, and other corporate development initiatives that align with the company's long-term growth strategy.Lead and conduct financial modeling, business case development, and valuation analysis for potential investments, acquisitions, and divestitures.Coordinate and manage due diligence processes across internal stakeholders including Legal, Finance, Tax, HR, Operations, IT and BUs.Prepare materials for executive leadership, board presentations, and investment committees.Track and assess strategic trends, competitor moves, and industry developments to inform the corporate development pipeline.Support post-acquisition integration planning and execution to ensure value capture and strategic alignment.Partner with internal teams and external advisors (investment bankers, VC Funds, startup accelerators, consultants, legal counsel) to facilitate transaction processes.Maintain and develop relationships with potential partners, investors, and target companies to generate deal flow.Participate in Boards of Directors or Advisory Boards of portfolio companies or Limited Partner (LP) Advisory Committees of investment funds as appropriate, offering strategic guidance and ensuring alignment with enterprise interests.Develop and maintain proprietary databases and dashboards for tracking opportunities, market activity, and performance metrics.Represent the Corporate Development team on cross-functional projects and committees as needed.Performs other duties as assigned.Complies with all policies and standards.Qualification RequirementsBachelor's Degree Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related fieldMaster's Degree or equivalent experience - PreferredExperience in financial services or insurance industries - PreferredExperience supporting or leading transactions, including due diligence, valuation, structuring, and negotiationsExceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of financial literacyAdvanced knowledge of corporate finance, valuation methodologies, and deal structuringStrong communication and presentation abilities, with experience preparing materials for senior executivesAbility to influence and collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholdersStrong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneouslyProficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling toolsTravel Requirements:10%-20% travel for meetings, due diligence site visits, and industry conferences.Work Setting/Position Demands:Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with other standard office equipment, or while in meetings.Requires the ability to verbally communicate and exchange accurate information to customers and associates on a regular basis.Requires visual acuity to read and interpret a variety of correspondence, procedures, reports and forms via paper and electronic documents, visual inspection involving small defects; small parts, and/or operation of machinery (including inspection); using measurement devices continuously. Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned.Requires the ability to prepare written correspondence, reports and forms using prescribed formats and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style on a regular basis.Requires the ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusionsPerforms substantial movement of wrists, hands, and fingers for continuous computer work.Extended hours required during peak workloads or special projects/events.
