Country Security Manager, Mozambique Our client is seeking to appoint a Country Security Manager to oversee all aspects of safety and security within their Mozambique operations. The successful candidate will ensure that staff, assets, and operations are protected through effective risk management, compliance, and stakeholder engagement. This role reports to the Regional Director and technically to the Managing Director.Key ResponsibilitiesSecurity ManagementDevelop, update, and implement country‑specific security guidelines, SOPs, and contingency plans.Supervise and train national security staff and focal points.Monitor and assess security conditions; provide recommendations to leadership.Ensure staff awareness of prevailing threats and mitigation measures.Design and implement warden systems, emergency communication networks, and crisis response protocols.Maintain incident tracking systems; conduct incident mapping and analysis.Lead or support investigations and integrate lessons learned into training.Audit communications equipment and oversee vehicle servicing schedules.Conduct induction briefings for all new staff, visitors, and volunteers.ComplianceSubmit weekly security reports and timely updates on incidents.Conduct Security Risk Assessments and Site Security Surveys.Ensure compliance with Mozambican laws and organizational policies.Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation for continuity.Human ResourcesOversee recruitment, training, and performance management of national security staff.Recommend promotions, disciplinary actions, and terminations in consultation with leadership.Conduct site visits to assess security readiness and staff engagement. Training & Capacity BuildingIdentify training needs and deliver tailored programs for security staff.Build capacity of national staff to assume greater responsibilities.Conduct refresher and scenario‑based training sessions.Stakeholder Engagement & RepresentationMaintain strong relationships with UN agencies, NGOs, IGOs, local authorities, and community leaders.Represent the organization at security coordination meetings.Uphold organizational values, ethics, and code of conduct in all external engagements.RequirementsQualifications & ExperienceMinimum 10 years' field security experience in hostile or high‑risk environments.Proven track record managing teams of 10+ staff.Experience working in Mozambique is essential.Business development experience is required - ability to identify opportunities, build client relationships, and support organizational growth.Strong background in compliance, incident management, and risk assessment.Demonstrated ability to operate in multi‑national and multi‑cultural environments. Skills & CompetenciesFirearm competencies and certifications are required.Ability to motivate and mentor national staff effectively.Strong decision‑making and independent judgment under pressure.Excellent communication skills (internal and external).Creativity and resourcefulness in limited‑resource environments.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Familiarity with incident tracking systems and emergency communication tools. Additional RequirementsAdvanced First Aid training.Valid driver's license and ability to travel to field sites.Flexibility to cope with stressful situations and operate independently.
