Job Description

Data entry/document processing for a Justice of the Peace -  Precinct 2• Seal files and documents as ordered by the CourtsAffix bar codes to documents for scanningScan documentsProcess motions and orders, including file-marking, entering into the computer, obtainingCourt signatures, and sending copies to respective partiesProcess disposition of casesDocket incoming transfer cases and number all documents receivedDocket tax cases, assess feesIssue writs, warrants, citations and subpoenasPrepare notices of judgmentPresent pro se litigants and files to the CourtAssist public in locating files and certifying documentsProcess probation revocations, including copying documents, entering documents intocomputer to reactive the case, issuing arrest warrants and sending to SheriffInspect bonds to ensure all bonds have been accurately entered. File all bonds posted forvarious court proceedingsProcess disposition of cases, including closing out file once guilty plea has been heard orjudgment received, sending copies of the abstract and commitment papers to Sheriff,District Attorney's Office, probation department, and bondsmanPrepare "pen packets" for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, entering dispositioninformation in the computerPrepare bond forfeitures and failure to appear arrest warrantsRespond to inmate correspondencePull files, attend and assist the court with guilty pleasAct as liaison between district clerk, judge, attorneys, court personnel and all otherinterested partiesTestify in court as custodian of recordsMail DWI suspension form to Department of Public SafetyProcess civil and family law documents that are e-filedProcess passport applicationsPerform other duties as requested by the District ClerkQUALIFICATION/SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma or equivalent required.Computer data entry experience, customer service experience required.Must have knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, modern office equipmentincluding computer software, filing systems.Must be able to type or keyboard data entry at a rate of 45 net words per minute.Must have knowledge and skills to perform basic math principles.Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers andthe public.Must be able to prioritize tasks to be performed.Must be able to work independently in the absence of supervision.Must be able to respond appropriately and professionally to requests and inquiries from thegeneral public and courthouse personnel.Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.Must be able to interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations and procedures applicable tojob duties assigned.Must be able to read and understand manuals, instructions and documents.Must be able to analyze various situations and determine best solution within authoritydelegated.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Detail oriented; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, officials and the general public; ability to prepare reports and maintain records.
