Data Engineer

What the role isAs a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data architecture solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data technologies with expertise in building and optimizing data infrastructure.What you will be working on• Building data models and managing efficient data pipelines• Integrating diverse data sources to support DOS' data initiatives• Assisting with the adoption and implementation of ELT/ETL tools• Automating scripts for statistical processesWhat we are looking for• Demonstrated experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), such as database design, query optimization, data modelling, and/or ingestion pipelines• Strong programming skills in Python• Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes• Understanding of data modelling techniques and best practices• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously• Possess Knowledge/experience in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldAdvantageous:• Experience with other programming languages like R, Java, Scala, etc.• Certifications in relevant data technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics)• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their data services• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and HiveWe encourage interested candidates to apply directly for the role via Careers@Gov.
