Data Scientist

Job PurposeWe are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Intermediate Data Scientist.In this role, you will work closely with software engineering and business teams to clean, consolidate, and manage data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and usability across the organisation. You will support data-driven decision-making by developing dashboards, improving data processes, and contributing to the planning and implementation of analytical initiatives.The ideal candidate will have a solid background in data science and programming, strong analytical thinking, and a keen interest in transforming raw data into meaningful business insights.Duties and ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the data science and software engineering teams to ensure data integrity, consistency, and accessibility.Clean, consolidate, and manage datasets from multiple internal and external sources.Support the design, development, and maintenance of PowerBI dashboards and other data visualisation tools.Assist with database administration, ensuring data structures are efficient and well-documented.Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for process improvement.Contribute to the planning and implementation of data projects and analytical solutions.Present findings and insights to internal stakeholders in a clear and actionable way.Document data workflows and continuously seek opportunities to streamline data operations.Stay informed about emerging tools and best practices in data management and analytics.Experience and QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.2+ years’ hands-on experience in Data Science, Data Analytics, or Data Engineering.Strong proficiency in Python, with experience using data libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.Experience working with SQL and data visualisation tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau).Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure) is beneficial.Experience in cleaning, transforming, and managing datasets from multiple sources.Graduation with distinction or honours is advantageous.Skills and KnowledgeYou are analytical, detail-oriented, and passionate about solving problems with data.You have experience cleaning, consolidating, and managing large datasets to support business decisions.You are curious, proactive, and able to take ownership of your work with minimal supervision.You communicate clearly and can explain complex data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.You are highly organised, methodical, and comfortable working across multiple projects.You have a growth mindset and continuously seek to improve your technical skills and understanding of the business.You are collaborative and thrive in a team environment that values learning and innovation.BenefitsMarket-related salary.Subsidised on-site meals (35% off Balwin Olive & Plates).Opportunities for growth and internal advancement within a fast-growing company.Regular team and company events (karaoke, escape rooms, bowls, and more!).Access to training budgets and dedicated learning days to support your professional development.Inclusive workplace culture that values collaboration and continuous improvement.Discovery Medical Aid Benefit.
