Our client is a a Nigerian telecommunications company that provides a wide range of mobile and enterprise services, including voice, data, SMS, and value-added services.What our client is looking for:JOB TITLE: Decision Support ManagerEMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time (Hybrid/On-site as required)REPORTS TO: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)DIRECT REPORTS: Administrator, CEO’s OfficeLOCATION: Lagos, NigeriaSUMMARYThe Decision Support Manager serves as a strategic advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, providing high-quality financial, commercial, and operational insights to enable data-driven decisions. The role ensures that the CEO and Executive Leadership Team have accurate analytics, scenario models, risk forecasts, and performance dashboards to steer the organisation’s growth, profitability, and competitive positioning in the Nigerian telecom market.RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Strategic & Executive Advisory:Provide proactive insights and recommendations that strengthen strategic, financial, and operational decision-making at CEO and Board level.Support assessment of new business opportunities, digital product initiatives, cost optimisation moves, network investments, and partnerships.Conduct market and competitor intelligence, focusing on key telecom industry players, OTT players, and evolving regulatory dynamics.2. Business Performance AnalyticsDevelop and maintain CEO-level scorecards, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting packs aligned to strategic goals (revenue growth, ARPU, churn, customer experience, digital services, network quality, cost efficiency).Evaluate product, segment, and channel performance using profitability and margin analytics, customer lifetime value, and unit economics.Lead monthly business performance reviews with data-driven insights on variances and improvement recommendations.3. Financial & Commercial ModellingBuild financial models for business cases, pricing, CAPEX/OPEX decisions, spectrum investments, and network expansion plans.Run scenario and sensitivity modelling for foreign exchange risks, inflation impacts, regulatory changes, and macroeconomic shocks.Partner with Finance, Strategy, and Commercial teams to ensure data consistency and sound forecasting principles.4. Data Governance & Reporting ExcellenceStrengthen data quality, accuracy, and timeliness used for C-level reporting and decision support.Ensure consistency and alignment of business definitions across Finance, Commercial, and Network analytics.Introduce automation, self-service BI tools, and standardised reporting templates.5. Project & Transformation SupportProvide analytical support for organisational transformation programs, cost leadership initiatives, and digital lifestyle strategy execution.Track benefits realisation for major programs and ensure value creation is measurable and visible.Participate in CEO-level negotiations and presentations with investors, regulators, strategic partners, and Board committees.KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)Accuracy and timeliness of CEO/Board dashboards and insightsQuality and adoption of decision-support models across Executive LeadershipRevenue, margin, or cost improvements influenced by recommendationsImprovement in forecast accuracy and data integritySuccessful support of strategic initiatives (digital expansion, network quality, SIM activations, churn reduction, etc.)PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS/BACKGROUNDEducationBachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Business, Engineering, or related field.Master’s degree (MBA/MMSc) or relevant advanced qualification preferred.Professional Certifications (desirable): CFA, ACCA, CIMA, PMP, CBDA, Analytics certifications.ExperienceMinimum 8 years’ experience in analytics, financial planning, decision support, corporate strategy, or commercial finance.Strong exposure to telecommunications, digital, fintech, or technology business environments in Nigeria or Africa.Proven track record in executive-level reporting and financial modelling.Technical CompetenciesAdvanced Excel/Google Sheets and scenario modellingPower BI/Tableau/Looker/Qlik/Sisense/other BI platformsStrong financial and commercial acumenKnowledge of telecom KPIs (ARPU, churn, BTS/site economics, subscriber growth, partner commissions, etc.)Familiarity with NCC regulations and Nigeria’s macroeconomic landscapeBehavioural CompetenciesExcellent communication and executive presenceCritical thinking, structured problem-solving, and intellectual curiosityHigh professional judgement, confidentiality, and integrityAbility to work under pressure with multiple executive stakeholdersStrong collaboration and influence capability.WORKING RELATIONSHIPSInternal: CEO, CFO, CTO/Network, CCO/Commercial, Digital Services, Strategy, Finance, Regulatory, HR, BI/Data teams.External: Partners, aggregators, industry analysts, regulatory bodies (NCC), consultants, investors (when required).Does this describe you? If yes, kindly send CVs to hr@mauricexandra.com using the role as the subject of your mail.
