OxEon Energy is seeking a highly motivated Director of Engineering to join our growing Systems Engineering Team. This individual will lead the design and operation of systems for advanced fuel processing for both space and terrestrial applications. This position requires a detail-oriented individual, capable of leading rigid compliance standards to evaluate and mitigate risks throughout the design and fabrication processes. The ideal candidate is a leader who has experience establishing engineering principles in alignment with AS9100D standards, providing senior mechanical engineering oversite of the design process (preliminary and critical reviews, change control, drawing release and control, prototype fabrication order release and control), as well as fabrication and test support. We promote a culture of collaboration, innovation, leadership, and learning, using our talents and vision to change the world and solar system.Leadership Manage a team of mechanical, chemical, and systems engineers, engineering technicians, and electrical and controls engineering contractors in the design and fabrication of first of a kind systems to AS9100D standards Coordinate review processes: Design Review (PDR/CDR) Change Control for drawings and models. ERP implementation from a part perspective Manage teams to specific tasks drawn from a program statement of work to (SOW) schedule and budget. Oversee and execute departmental budgets Identify training needs and lead gap analyses for the Systems Team Member of both the Management and Leadership Teams at OxEonCommunication Analyze and report results of device and system testing, compare results to the analysis basis of the design. Write analysis reports, project update briefings, project milestone, monthly, quarterly, and final reports. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work with suppliers and customers. Prepare manuscripts and presentations for external communication at industry and professional society conferences. Maintain and report on departmental KPIsProductivity Use CAD/CAE tools such as SolidWorks Simulation, Finite Element Analysis Work with PIs to implement project science goals within the constraints of the contractual statement of work. Provide independent technical assessments to challenge the approach of team members including the PIs. Specify components, identify suppliers, prepare purchase orders, monitor custom work of external fab shops. Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications GD&T Knowledge (Stack up analysis) Participation in program stage gate reviewsInnovation &Establish resources and work with management projects to develop solutions to engineering problems. Creatively adapt industry best practices guided by analysis in the design of integrated mechanical, thermal, fluid, electrochemical devices, and systems.Safety Ensure systems and employees are operating to safety standardsWorking Conditions Work in office, R&D laboratories, and manufacturing environmentsQualifications 10 or more years of focused technical and management experience in design execution and project engineering Exceptional writing, technical and problem-solving skills, and reasoning ability. Ability to manage project task teams to schedule and budget Experience using Solid orks Ability to communicate effectively and clearly. Must be a self-motivated and a great team workerPreferred Experience Requirements AS9100 experience, or experience in a highly regulated field Licensed professional mechanical engineering Government contract experienceMinimum Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or relevant engineering fieldPreferred Education Requirements Master's degree in mechanical engineering or relevant engineering field
