Location: Onsite – Richmond Hill, OntarioSalary: CA$75,000.00-CA$80,000.00 per yearJob description:OverviewThe Distribution Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operations of the distribution network, ensuring effective management of resources, operational costs, labor performance, and strategic initiatives to drive profitability. Below are the key roles and responsibilities for the position:Key Responsibilities1. Labor Reviews & Workforce ManagementOversee labor performance through regular reviews of productivity, efficiency, and adherence to operational standards.Develop and implement labor optimization strategies, ensuring labor costs align with operational needs and performance goals.Conduct labor forecasting and scheduling to maintain adequate staffing levels while minimizing overtime and inefficiencies.Provide guidance and support to HR and site leadership on labor-related issues, including recruitment, retention, and employee performance management.2. Completion of Combined Labor ReportCompile and ensure the accuracy of labor data, including hours worked, and breakdown by departments.Provide actionable insights to senior leadership regarding labor cost trends, variances, and potential corrective actions.Prepare and submit weekly labor reports to management for review and strategic decision-making by end of day Friday; submitted no later than 4:00 pm Sunday.3. Site P&L OwnershipTake full responsibility for the Profit and Loss (P&L) performance of the distribution center, ensuring financial goals are met.Develop and execute strategies to optimize site revenue and minimize operating costs.Monitor and analyze financial performance, ensuring adherence to budgetary targets and identifying opportunities for improvement.Collaborate with finance teams to reconcile monthly P&L reports and identify any discrepancies or variances.Propose and implement cost-saving initiatives to drive profitability while maintaining operational efficiency.4. CAPEX & OPEX Planning and OwnershipLead the planning, budgeting, and management of both Capital Expenditures (CAPEX) and Operational Expenditures (OPEX) for the distribution center.Evaluate, prioritize, and approve CAPEX projects that enhance operational capacity, technology, or infrastructure.Ensure OPEX spending is aligned with overall business goals, striving for cost reductions without compromising service levels.Track and report on CAPEX and OPEX initiatives, ensuring projects stay within scope, budget, and timelines.5. Site KPI StandardsEstablish and enforce key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of operations in distribution center.Regularly assess the performance of regional sites against established KPIs and develop action plans to address underperformance.Utilize KPIs to drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring the DC meets or exceeds performance benchmarks.6. CAP Bid ProjectsOversee and manage the CAPEX bidding process for distribution-related projects, ensuring bids are evaluated thoroughly for cost, quality, and implementation feasibility.Lead the evaluation of contractor bids and selection processes, ensuring the best value and return on investment for the organization.Track the progress of CAPEX projects, ensuring that milestones are met on time and within budget while meeting safety and quality standards.7. Cost Savings InitiativesDrive and implement cost-saving projects in the DC.Identify areas for operational efficiencies, supply chain improvements, and process optimizations to achieve cost reduction goals.Monitor and track cost-saving projects to ensure they are being executed effectively and deliver measurable financial impact.Collaborate with site and regional teams to identify and evaluate cost-saving opportunities on an ongoing basis.8. IC/QC ManagementOversee Inventory Control (IC) and Quality Control (QC) operations, ensuring proper inventory levels, accuracy, and product quality standards are maintained.Implement best practices in inventory management, ensuring products are stored and tracked correctly to minimize losses and discrepancies.Ensure quality control processes are rigorously followed to maintain high standards for incoming and outgoing products.Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure IC and QC compliance.9. Training and AccountabilityEnsure proper training programs are developed and implemented at the site level to enhance workforce capability and knowledge.Develop a culture of accountability, ensuring that employees understand their roles, performance expectations, and the importance of achieving operational goals.Regularly assess training effectiveness, providing additional resources or adjustments to training programs to meet evolving business needs.Foster an environment of leadership development, encouraging team members to take ownership of their roles and responsibilities.10. Safety and ComplianceEnsure that safety standards are always adhered to across the DC, maintaining a safe work environment for all employees.Ensure compliance with all provincial and federal legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Human Rights Code, as well as environmental regulations and industry best practices.Drive safety culture initiatives and ensure all personnel are trained in health and safety protocols.11. Continuous ImprovementChampion continuous improvement initiatives across the distribution network, fostering a culture of innovation, quality, and efficiency.Implement Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies to optimize workflows, reduce waste, and enhance service levels.Encourage cross-functional collaboration to identify opportunities for improving operational processes and customer satisfaction.By fulfilling these roles and responsibilities, the Distribution Warehouse Manager ensures operational success, financial health, and long-term growth of the distribution network while maintaining high standards of service, safety, and efficiencyEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).Minimum 7–10 years of progressive warehouse, distribution, or supply chain management experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.Must have Forklift certification.Proven experience managing P&L, CAPEX/OPEX planning, and cost control in a distribution or logistics environment.Hands-on experience with labor planning, workforce management, and performance reviews.Demonstrated track record in implementing process improvements (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies).Technical SkillsStrong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and quality assurance practices.Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and advanced Excel/reporting tools.Solid financial acumen, with the ability to analyze and interpret budgets, KPIs, and operational data.Familiarity with health, safety, and regulatory compliance standardsOther CompetenciesTeam Leadership – Ability to motivate, train, and develop warehouse staff.Performance Management – Setting KPIs, monitoring productivity, and improving efficiency.Employee Engagement – Keeping workers motivated and reducing turnover.Warehouse Operations – Understanding inbound/outbound processes, order fulfillment, and shipping.Problem-Solving Skills – Making quick, informed decisions in high-pressure situations.Join us, and let’s deliver data-driven retail solutions.SRP’s mission is to exceed expectations through passion, performance and profitability.
