DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COUNSELOR_FT Department: Community Support ProgramsReports to: Direct Care Supervisor of CBDV Full time position: 37.5hours/week, Monday-Friday 9am-5pm with flexibility to work after 5pm orunless Director/Supervisor state otherwise; Requires weekend and eveningwork; Part-time position requires the same with hours varied Pay Rate:\$22.00 per hour FLSA Status: Non-Exempt The YWCA of Western MA isdedicated to eliminating racism and empowering survivors. The YWprovides a safe place for survivors of domestic violence, sexualassault, and human trafficking. Our programs and services include crisisshelter and transitional housing for survivors and their families,counseling, SAFEPLAN court advocacy, community education, supervisedvisitation, and vocational training for youth. The YWCA providesservices at several sites, including Holyoke, Northampton, Westfield,and our primary Springfield campus. Position Purpose The DomesticViolence Services Counselor provides emotional support, individualcounseling, safety planning, court advocacy, medical advocacy, andsupport groups to survivors of domestic violence. Provide DomesticViolence education classes to survivors. The position also supportscommunity outreach and education efforts. The Domestic ViolenceCounselor is a key member of an on-call rotation, providing on-sitemedical advocacy at five area hospitals, including Baystate MedicalCenter, Mercy Medical Center, Holyoke Medical Center, Noble Hospital,And Wing Hospital. Essential Responsibilities Provide In Person Orvirtual individual counseling to survivors of domestic violence inEnglish and/or Spanish for an average of 12-15 sessions, depending onthe necessity, with a focus on safety planning and options to satisfysurvivor-identified immediate needs. Be available and provide individualcounseling services of domestic violence after agency hours; be flexibleto work after 5pm at least twice a week to accommodate client schedules.Be on on-call rotation and participate in an on-call coverage rotationto respond to emergency calls for medical advocacy within two hour ofrequest for services. Provide overnight, weekend, and other on-callcoverage on a rotational basis. Provide support for outreach activities,as needed; be flexible to participate in events occurring after 5pm.Provide walk-in client coverage during specified office hours. Providecourt accompaniment to participants as necessary. Provide policeaccompaniment to participants as necessary. Conduct community groups forsurvivors of domestic violence and survivors of domestic violence withco-occurring/compounding trauma- which includes but is not limited to adrop-in support group, facilitation of the Women Correctional Center?stransition classes specific to topics regarding domestic violence,Sexual Assault, And Self-care, And a DCF-mandated Group. QualificationsMinimum completed Associate\'s degree, Bachelor\'s degree preferredSpanish language required Trauma informed skills; Experience withsurvivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, teen dating violenceand/or stalking; Experience working in collaboration with multipleentities, such as nonprofit organizations, public schools or colleges;Experience in public speaking with both youth and adults; Experienceworking with a diverse population; Experience with survivors ofgender-based violence and exploitation; Experience addressing theimpacts of decisions and actions on multiple communities; Understandingof both interpersonal and structural racism and bias; Have verbal,written, and organizational skills, computer skills; Access to reliabletransportation and/or valid driver?s license; and Must be able to lift40 pounds.
