Electrical Project Manager & Contract AdministratorPay Band $39.00 – $47.00 per hourJob Details Full-Time 37.5 to 50 hours a week (varies seasonally)Travel Overnight travel within Canada 2-3 times per monthOverviewMy client a professional mechanical and electrical consulting engineering firm providing services to architects and building owners in the building service industry. With a comprehensive list of completed projects ranging from residential, educational, institutional, recreational, and commercial. The company provides full service mechanical and electrical consulting for buildingsRole OverviewA competent, driven, and self-motivated individual that will represent the company as the main point of contact for our Electrical Team for projects in construction.As a Electrical Project Manager and Contract Administrator your role revolves around four main task types:On Site ReviewVisit Construction sites and prepare field review reports on construction progress.Enforce project specifications and design standards are being adhered to.Ensure quality of workmanship being completed on site and communicate deficiencies.Represent Company during site meetings.Participate in functional testing/verification of equipment operation as required.Proactively identify and assist in the resolution of issues related to the engineering design during construction and during the warranty period.Proximity to 401 corridor between Kitchener and Milton, or immediate area around Hamilton would be beneficial.Contractor Administration:Answer RFIs from site.Review and approve monthly progress draws.Prepare and issue Change Notices, Change Directives, Site Instructions and other related documentation.Review Change Notice pricing for fairness.Review shop drawing submissions for conformance with design and specifications.For projects where DEI is the Prime Consultant, take on the leadership role of the Prime Consultant.Occupancy and Post Occupancy Project CloseoutClearly communicate and co-ordinate all occupancy requirements to construction team.Review and confirm completeness and correctness of all life safety and occupancy related paperwork.Ensure Occupancy Letters are issued in line with owner requirements, actively work with construction team to resolve issues and meet project timelines.Review post occupancy project closeout documents including Operations and Maintenance Manuals, deficiency sign off etc.Support Projects in DesignProvide regular feedback to the design team on the quality of products specified, lessons learned from site etc.Conduct detailed site surveys of existing buildings in support of renovation projects.Review and assist in final checks of project design checks, prior to tender as requested.The successful proponent for this position will be well organized, able to work in a digital environment and be comfortable working from home, from the road while travelling.Average project load will be 35 projects in various states of progress through construction.Based on project complexity, frequency of site visits/site meetings will vary between weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and on call.This role will require the individual to travel daily to assigned sites for work and will require flexibility in the individuals’ Monday to Friday work schedule (potentially before or after standard work hours).QualificationsThis role would require a candidate with excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with contractors, owners, architects, and other individuals during the construction period through in-person and electronic communication.The role requires someone who acts in a professional manner, is organized, and can enforce contractual requirements when necessary.The successful candidate needs at minimum 7 to 10 years of construction experience ideally as an Ontario College of Trades licensed Electrician working on relevant construction projects.The individual should have a strong understanding of construction methodology, coordination between trades, and construction details.Candidates need to have an in-depth understanding of relevant electrical codes, construction practices, and the ability to effectively analyze costs (manpower and materials) for changes that occur during construction.Technically, the successful candidate must have a thorough understanding of electrical systems, fire alarm systems, generators, lighting, power and distribution, communications, wiring methods, etc.The role will require the successful candidate to be capable of effectively utilizing a variety of software hardware in their daily tasks, including Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, etc.) Bluebeam (PDF Editors) 360-degree cameras, regular cameras, etc.Candidates must be eligible to work in CanadaI would like to thank all the candidates in advance, due to the large volume applicants only the short-listed candidates will be contacted.Please do stay connected on LinkedIn for future opportunities
