Purpose Of The RoleWork transversally across custody functions to oversee service delivery and operational and financial risks, through close co-ordination and engagement with local, regional and global functional leads, representing the interests of clients and employees, and ensuring operations remain compliant with EMEA regulatory obligations and guidance.Operations include Payments, Settlements, Tax, Income, Corporate Actions, Transaction Services, Agent Bank Operations, Loans, Derivatives, Market claims, and Reconciliation services.The role will report dually to the global Head of Custody and EMEA Chief Operating Officer.ResponsibilitiesOversee day-to-day Custody operations across all EMEA-based teamsLead the operational integration of new business contracted through the region. Monitor custody operations outside of EMEA providing services to EMEA-contracted clientsExecute Custody strategy within the region in support of global priorities including strategic integrations.Proactively identify, monitor and resolve material emerging risks in EMEA custody operationsEngage Business Risk Management within region / globally to address systemic risk themes at rootOversee Second and Third Line assessments, driving self-identification and manage on time closure of associated remediation activitiesEnsure appropriate functional ownership of risks and operational issues and that mitigation activities are formally tracked through issues management and closed out timely, with escalation up through global functional management as necessaryDrive a ‘Risk Excellence’ and risk ownership / accountability mindset into everyday operationsMonitor / execute strategic change activities to ensure desired outcomeManage performance against budget within region, drive actions to address budget overspendsEstablish / maintain systems to manage staffing levels, organisational design, employee welfare, engagement, training, career planning and diversity objectives Represent Global Custody in client interactions, business development, service reviews and material issue management and resolutionRepresent the Custody function within regional Global Delivery management forums, and represent the EMEA region in global Custody and GD forumsRepresent Custody and Global Delivery in interactions with the wider State Street organisation in regionRepresent the global Custody function in interactions with regional regulators and other key market participantsMonitor third party providers to ensure service delivery in line with service level expectationsEngage with regional and global corporate support functionsRequirements And QualificationsBachelor’s Degree or Master of Business Administration preferred20+ years financial services experienceStrategic, execution-oriented mindsetKnowledge of EMEA regulatory environment preferredStrong interpersonal skills & proven ability to establish and develop relationshipsAbility to manage under pressureAbility to provide respectful challengeAbility to influence large teams not in direct line responsibilityAbility to influence organizational changeAbout State StreetAcross the globe, institutional investors rely on us to help them manage risk, respond to challenges, and drive performance and profitability.
