Join our supportive team that works closely with community stakeholders to deliver services that help make the City a safe and healthy place to live.As the Environmental Health Assistant, you will provide operational support to the Community Health team, assisting with compliance activities to achieve strong environmental health outcomes and best practice standards.Reporting to the Health Operations Lead within the Community Safety and Amenity team, your key responsibilities will include:Undertaking regular water sampling of aquatic facilities in accordance with relevant legislation.Inspecting aquatic facilities and skin penetration establishments to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.Conducting environmental water and food sampling programs.Participating in food business and other health inspections alongside qualified officers.About YouTo succeed in this role, you will possess:Studying for Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) or similar qualification. Undergraduates must have successfully completed their first year of studies.Working knowledge of related legislation including Local Government Act, Food Act, Environmental Protection Act, Public Health Act and local lawsEffective written, verbal communication skills, including the ability to participate in negotiations and reconcile issues with stakeholdersIf your experience and capabilities match these criteria, we welcome your application.Please note: To be eligible for this position, applicants must be undertaking an approved university qualification leading to accreditation as an Environmental Health Officer.
