This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' learning journeys by providing essential support within the classroom.Your RoleAs a Learning Assistant, you'll work closely with our classroom teachers, providing valuable in class support to students, assisting them to thrive both academically and socially.Responsibilities IncludeAssisting students with learning, individually and in small groups, in all key education areas.Liaising effectively with teachers and students, daily, providing any relevant information to the appropriate teacher.Liaising with Learning Support teachers and other Learning Assistants.Under the direction of the responsible teacher, oversee students at break times.Fostering an inclusive and positive classroom environment.Attend and assist on excursions etc.May be required to assist in restroom breaks.Other relevant duties as directed by Line-Manager.Key Selection CriteriaAbility to liaise closely with teachers to plan, prepare and deliver learning and teaching programs across the year levels which meet the diverse needs and characteristics of students and are consistent with relevant syllabi followed by the College.A demonstrated ability to work alongside teachers to apply the principles of inclusive teaching and learning, including the use of learning technologies and assessment, to create a supportive and challenging environment in which students are supported in achieving to their potential.Ability to build relationships and partnerships with students, parents, fellow staff and the wider community through the use of well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.A demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with fellow staff and members of the wider community to establish productive partnerships which facilitate optimal student outcomes.High standards of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and resilience.Knowledge of, and experience with the approaches to supporting children with additional needs.Essential QualificationsCurrent Working with Children BlueCard or be willing to obtain one.Degree/Diploma qualifications relevant to the position such as a Cert III in Education Support.First-aid and CPR qualified All Canterbury staff are expected to support the school's Anglican ethos and values.Why Join Canterbury CollegeAt Canterbury, our mantra is "Different Together."
