Job Title: Equity & Diversity Support OfficerPosition Status: CasualLocation: ActivateUTS | Student Life Office | 745 Harris Street UTS Bldg 4 Level 2, Ultimo, NSW 2007Reports To: Club Training Lead, Student Life (Development & EDI)Support student leaders and foster inclusive, diverse and equitable club environments at ActivateUTS.About The RoleActivateUTS is seeking an Equity & Diversity Support Officer (EDSO) to assist in delivering equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives across student clubs. You will support club executives with training, resources and guidance to promote safe, culturally aware, and inclusive leadership.In this role, you will help develop EDI-focused programs, resources, and student engagement activities, monitor trends relating to student experiences, and contribute to building a respectful and inclusive campus community. You’ll work closely with the Club Training Lead and the broader Student Life team to uphold ActivateUTS values and strengthen student development.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in delivering EDI-related training sessions and developing inclusive resourcesGuide club executives on inclusive practices, accessibility considerations, and wellbeing initiativesProvide information and referral pathways for students experiencing barriers to equity or inclusionAssist in drafting EDI policies, guides, training materials, and support communications such as newsletters and online contentSupport student engagement activities promoting diversity, belonging, and intercultural understandingEvaluate EDI initiatives by documenting outcomes and suggesting improvementsCollaborate with Student Life and ActivateUTS teams to ensure consistency across programsUndertake additional tasks as directed, adhering to ActivateUTS policies and valuesAbout You – Essential Skills & ExperiencePrevious experience in a student volunteer role, club executive position, or similar student leadership capacityAwareness of inclusion, equity, cultural diversity, and accessibility principlesStrong interpersonal skills; ability to engage respectfully with students from diverse backgroundsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organisational and administrative capabilitiesInitiative, reliability, and ability to work independently and collaborativelyUnderstanding of youth culture, student needs, and cultural diversity within a university contextDesirableExperience in diversity and inclusion projects, community engagement, or student wellbeing initiativesMental Health First Aid accreditation or willingness to obtainExperience delivering training or facilitating group activitiesQualifications or studies in social sciences, community development, education, equity studies, or related fieldsWhy Join UsBe Part Of a Dynamic And Inclusive Organisation At The Heart Of UTS, Delivering Programs That Support Students’ Personal And Professional Growth.
