Role OverviewThe Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and technically compliant cost estimates for marine, port, coastal, and civil infrastructure works delivered by ADSO LLC. The role covers a wide range of activities including estimating coastal protection works, beach nourishment, intertidal excavation, port and docking facilities, jetty refurbishment, floating pontoons, marine logistics, oceanographic instrument deployment, and civil infrastructure construction.Key Responsibilities1. Tender Review & Technical Analysis·        Review tender documents, drawings, BOQs, specifications, and addenda.·        Identify all marine, port, civil, and logistical components included in the scope.·        Understand project constraints such as tides, water depths, access limitations, and marine traffic requirements.2. Quantity Take-Off & Cost EstimationMarine & Coastal Works·        Beach nourishment: sand sourcing, loading, transport, offloading, spreading, and profiling.·        Coastal protection structures: revetments, breakwaters, and groynes.·        Marine excavation, dredging, seabed profiling, backfilling, and rock placement.·        Temporary marine access: cofferdams, pontoons, and floating plant mobilization/demobilization.·        Deployment of oceanographic instruments: current meters, wave/tide sensors, moorings, and subsea frames.Port & Docking Facility Works·        Estimation for construction, repair, and refurbishment of:·        Ports, marinas, and docking terminals·        Fixed jetties, quay walls, and berthing structures·        Floating pontoons, walkways, and access bridges·        Fender systems, bollards, cleats, ladders, and mooring components.·        Pile installation for jetties and pontoons.·        Associated MEP works: lighting, water, firefighting, and power systems for marinas.Marine Transportation & Logistics·        Barge and tugboat mobilization, charter, and operational hours.·        Transport of rock, sand, construction materials, machinery, pontoons, and marine equipment by sea.·        Fuel consumption, crew requirements, and navigational permits.·        Marine route planning, loading/unloading operations, and port fees.·        Transportation for oceanographic deployment missions and marine survey campaigns.Civil Infrastructure Works·        Earthworks: excavation, grading, backfilling, compaction.·        Utilities: stormwater, sewer, potable water, electrical duct banks, manholes, chambers.·        Concrete structures: foundations, retaining walls, culverts, slabs.·        Roadworks: subbase preparation, kerbstones, and pavement layers.·        Site preparation, demolition, and temporary works.3. Supplier & Subcontractor Management·        Request, evaluate, and compare quotations from:·        Marine equipment suppliers (barges, pontoons, boats)·        Transportation and marine logistics companies·        Civil subcontractors and material suppliers·        Specialty marine suppliers (fenders, pontoons, mooring systems, piles)·        Assess compliance with project technical specifications.·        Maintain an updated cost database for marine plant, labor, materials, and logistics services.4. Proposal Development·        Prepare complete technical and commercial proposals, including:·        Execution methodology (marine, port, marine transport, and civil)·        Construction sequencing and logistics planning·        Equipment allocation and marine fleet utilization plan·        Preliminary schedules and activity durations·        Risk assessments, exclusions, and clarifications·        Ensure tenders meet client instructions and submission deadlines.5. Site Visits & Data Collection·        Conduct site visits to evaluate project conditions such as:·        Water depths, tides, seabed characteristics, access routes·        Jetty/port conditions for refurbishment or expansion·        Requirements for marine transportation routes and loading areas·        Coordinate with survey teams for bathymetric and topographic data when required.6. Internal Coordination & Support·        Work with engineering, planning, marine operations, procurement, and finance teams to ensure comprehensive cost coverage.·        Support management during tender clarifications and negotiations.·        Prepare detailed handover packages to project teams upon award.7. Continuous Improvement·        Update cost norms, productivity rates, and pricing databases based on actual project performance.·        Monitor market trends for marine transport, rock supply, steel, concrete, and marine equipment rentals.·        Develop cost optimization and value-engineering proposals to improve competitiveness.Qualifications5–7 years experience in estimation for civil and/or marine construction projects (UAE/GCC experience preferred).Strong knowledge of marine infrastructure works (piling, quay wall systems, dredging, revetments, precast structures).Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and estimating software.Good understanding of UAE market rates, suppliers, and subcontractors.Strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
