The current response portfolio focuses on Health, Mental Health, Protection, and WASH programming through Project HOPE programs and local partnerships.Position SummaryThis role is offered as a consultancy position. This Consultant role will be based in Jamaica. Local Nationals only. The selected consultant will work under a short-term contract to deliver specific outputs outlined as follows:The Finance Coordinator supports and strengthens the financial management capacity of field finance teams to ensure effective and compliant financial operations across the mission. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, adherence to donor and organizational guidelines, and efficient financial support throughout the project cycle.Principal ResponsibilitiesMonitor the execution of the day-to-day finance activities at field offices according to Project Hope guidelines and local accounting regulations.Provide constant training to finance team in accounting, financial and Project Hope related regulations.Proactively participate in the monthly financial activities like accounting monthly closing and budget control monthly processEnsure compliance with internal control procedures through periodic reviews (e.g., surprise cash counts, payment verifications, reconciliations).Support the review and verification of financial documentation, data entry into accounting systems (including NetSuite, QuickBooks, or 1C/BAS), and quality control of financial records.Collaborate closely with regional and headquarters finance teams to ensure consistency and accuracy in financial management and reporting across systems.Support the team in regional and main offices in the usual activities related with the department (review primary documentation, operations in accounting software and finance documentation.Support Finance Manager / Finance Director in any other finance-admin-accounting activities.Other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, preferably within an INGO or humanitarian context.Strong knowledge of local accounting principles and financial regulations.Proficiency in financial software, including NetSuite, QuickBooks, or 1C/BAS, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Proven ability to train, mentor, and supervise finance staff.Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under pressure.Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.Commitment to humanitarian principles and Project HOPE’s mission.Fluency in EnglishPhysical Demands And Work EnvironmentConsultants should be able to work in an office setting, communicate effectively, and travel as needed. Assignments may include field or emergency deployments in austere or hardship environments.
