It proudly operates as a non-profit organisation, delivering fact-based and non-partisan journalism to hundreds of media outlets for the benefit of all Australians.The roleAAP is looking for a general news reporter to join our Melbourne team, covering a broad range of issues for state, national and global audiences. This is a full-time, permanent role that includes regular shift and weekend work.Applicants should have at least three years of published reporting experience and be capable of sourcing and writing factual and objective articles under tight deadlines. AAP's overarching focus is on public-interest journalism.The role suits an ambitious and energetic journalist who can apply multimedia to help convey the information in their articles. The ideal candidate will be comfortable reporting on various topics and have a working understanding of media law.Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is excellent organisation, professional presentation and good time management.A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel is necessary.The candidateCandidates should be capable of sourcing and writing factual and objective articles. They should be familiar and comfortable reporting on court hearings and legal proceedings.The role will suit an ambitious and energetic journalist with a passion for storytelling. The ideal candidate will be experienced in identifying and conducting interviews with relevant stakeholders, thoroughly researching source materials and writing sharp and vibrant content.They will be a team player with the ability to work flexibly and independently and required. Direction and feedback will be provided.
