We aim to prove that the best way to achieve lasting environmental outcomes is to enable markets to direct long-term finance towards sustainable land management practices and ecosystem services.We work in partnership with farmers, graziers, traditional owners and other land managers to develop high quality, high integrity nature-based projects that deliver economic, environmental and social benefits.About the roleThe Geospatial Analyst is a key member of a Portfolio Team - a multi disciplinary team committed to one of GreenCollar’s geographic focused portfolio of projects.In this role you will play a critical part in the spatial design, analysis, and delivery of high-integrity carbon and environmental projects. The successful candidate will undertake geospatial components of project work, translating spatial data into actionable insights and troubleshooting geospatial challenges, while also contributing to the improvement of spatial standards, practices, and processes across the organisation.This role offers the opportunity to apply GIS and Remote Sensing capabilities in real-world contexts while contributing to broader geospatial practice development at Greencollar. An ability to quickly learn and apply GIS and remote sensing techniques for land cover classification and analysis within the Australian landscape is the key to success in this role.The location for the role is flexible, with a preference for Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns or Perth.The day to day responsibilities at GreenCollar will include:Undertaking the spatial components of project design, monitoring and evaluation across diverse Australian landscapes and methods under the ACCU scheme.Solving complex environmental project challenges by employing a range of GIS and remote sensing techniques to map, classify and analyse land cover to support environmentally sound carbon project delivery.Working collaboratively with portfolio team members to solve complex project issues and ensure spatial deliverables with project milestones.Managing geospatial inputs across multiple concurrent projects in varied ecological and operational contexts.Supporting the development of high quality spatial outputs including maps, data packages, survey materials, and audit/RFI responses that meet ACCU and regulatory requirements.Contributing to the refinement and documentation of a set of best practices, workflows, and standard operational procedures related to vegetation classification, mapping methodologies, and spatial QA.Supporting the evaluation and improvement of geospatial tools, processes, and data integrity across projects and portfolios.Taking part in the development and rollout of practice improvements that enhance consistency, quality, and impact of spatial work.Supporting reporting and performance tracking by generating spatial insights for internal and external stakeholders.Occasional travel to regional areas to visit projects and to attend engagement meetings, workshops, and audits.Skills and experienceA tertiary qualification in remote sensing, geospatial science, GIS or physical science or similar with specific coursework or relevant work experience.3+ years working as a Geospatial Analyst as part of a multidisciplinary team.Intermediate knowledge and application of GIS softwares (e.g. ArcGIS) and image analysis tools (e.g. ENVI).Proficiency in some programming languages i.e. R, Python is a clear plus.Skilled at defining and analysing complex problems across various project settings, with a focus on achieving project outcomes.Experience in supporting and delivering end to end complex geospatial projects.Demonstrated experience in working on multiple projects simultaneously, having the ability to prioritise workload and adapting to revised deadlines in a fast-paced environment.A team player who can also work autonomously with minimal guidance.Clear and effective communication (written and verbal) to inform, influence and impact both technical and non-technical audiences.Strong work ethic with drive and passion for positive environmental outcomes.Why join GreenCollar?A dynamic, growing and innovative leader in the Ecosystem Services market spaceSupportive and dedicated team environmentCompetitive remuneration package5 weeks’ annual leaveWellbeing leaveVolunteer leaveGender-neutral parental leaveRegular social club activities and events (in person/online)Our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion We are an equal opportunity employer.
