Job Description

Job Summary: As a Sommelier, you will curate and elevate the wine experience for our guests through expert knowledge, personalized recommendations, and refined service. You'll manage the wine program, including inventory, staff education, and pairing selections, ensuring alignment with our culinary offerings and service standards. Your passion for wine and hospitality will enhance both guest satisfaction and the restaurant’s overall excellence. Job Duties & Functions: Guide guests through the wine list and make pairing recommendations based on taste preferences and menu selections. Manage wine inventory, including ordering, receiving, organizing, and proper storage of all wine and beverage items.

Create and update wine lists and maintain compliance with licensing, health, and safety regulations. Conduct regular wine tastings, staff training sessions, and ongoing education to enhance team product knowledge. Collaborate with the culinary team and management to develop thoughtful wine pairings for menus, specials, and events. Ensure proper wine service techniques (decanting, glassware selection, temperature control, etc. ) are consistently followed. Monitor wine sales performance and identify opportunities to increase guest engagement and profitability. Represent the property at industry events, wine dinners, and partner tastings when applicable. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wine cellar and service areas.

Uphold Forbes, AAA, and company service standards at all times. Performs other duties and attends meetings, as assigned by hotel/department leadership. Education & Experience: 2+ years of experience as a sommelier or advanced wine professional in a luxury or fine dining environment. Certified Sommelier (Minimum Court of Master Sommeliers Level 2 or WSET Level 3 in wine certification) required; Advanced or higher preferred. Extensive knowledge of global wine regions, producers, varietals, and food pairings. Familiarity with spirits, beer, and non-alcoholic beverage programs is an advantage. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to guide and educate guests and staff.

Proficient in POS and inventory systems. Food Handler and Responsible Beverage Service Certifications (as applicable). Ability to read, write, and converse in English. Additional languages are a plus. Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. This position is at a location where Hyatt is not the employer. The employer of individuals working at this hotel may be a third-party management company that is responsible for all employment benefits and obligations at this location.
