Position SummaryThe Grants Officer manages Seed’s post-award grants management processes and functions, helping to coordinate across departments to design and support advancement of best practices in grants compliance for grant success, and also plays a key role as a content writer for Seed’s Development team, developing a strategic development narrative that showcases Seed's unique value proposition for a wide range of donors, writing reports, concepts and proposals, and stewardship of Seed’s stakeholders, partners and donors.The incumbent will have experience in program management and development operations and be comfortable performing a range of duties including, but not limited to tracking deliverables, preparing program/project reports, funding proposals and RFP responses, compliance with Seed’s grants management system, collaborating with program and MEL team colleagues to collect outcomes data and stories in support of compelling and accurate grant reports, as well as, representing the organization in external events and meetings with funders.The Grants Officer will serve as the Development team’s primary liaison to the country program, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning teams to ensure development opportunities are crafted fit to purpose for Seed’s greatest funding needs and grant reports/external communication accurately reflect in-country and program progress and achievements.This is a full-time position preferably based in Malawi to primarily support grants management for the Malawi country program with potential contributions to work across other Seed operational countries as needed. The role reports to the Partnerships and Grants Officer.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include the following:Work closely with the Malawi country program, MEL and finance teams to ensure compliance with Seed’s grants management system and funder grant requirements in close coordination with the Partnerships and Grants Officer;Working collaboratively across the Development team and Seed leadership to develop and update as needed a strategic development narrative that showcases Seed’s core technical capabilities and value proposition, which can be used with a range of stakeholders;Collaborate with the rest of the Development team to manage award process when Seed secures a new gift or grant, ensuring staff, sub-awardees, and consultants have a clear understanding of grant deliverables and requirements;Monitor programmatic and financial progress, identify risks, delays or setbacks, and troubleshoot challenges to ensure appropriate way forward for successful and timely grant progress;Development of grant reports, from narrative and translation of monitoring and evaluation data, to working with Seed’s Finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting on grant spend downs;Develop compelling and accurate proposals in coordination with Seed’s broader Development team and Seed’s Program team that match donor strategy with Seed’s highest revenue needs, often on a tight deadline;Maintain and update development department timelines, managing the grants calendar front to back leveraging Salesforce, and including proposal and report deadlines as well as upcoming RFPs and institutional funding cycles;Promote Seed’s use of Salesforce for donor reporting that can inform Development, Finance, and MEL teams; liaise closely with the Finance team on quarterly revenue progress;With other team members, serve as a good steward and user of Seed’s development tools and processes for recordkeeping, including Salesforce and SharePoint, ensuring visibility on our revenue pipeline and active grants;Partner with Communications and the country teams on the creation of donor communications materials by contributing to writing, subject matter research and budget development as needed; andParticipate in meetings and events with donors and prospective funders and other stakeholders, representing Seed’s direction, strategies, impact and opportunities for increased philanthropic support as needed.Qualifications3-5 years of experience in a project management or business development role at an international nonprofit with a focus on global health programs;Exceptional project management skills, including ability to adhere to deadlines, and manage many teams on different time zones toward a single goal and deadline;Good writing skills, and ability to communicate effectively and efficiently, distilling large amounts of technical information down to a compelling narrative that informs and inspires;Demonstrated experience working on complex, deadline-driven grants management processes involving diverse teams across disciplines and driving consensus among internal and external partners;Experience preparing project/program reports, bids, and managing grants and collaborative agreements with corporate funders, foundations and technical funders and understanding of rules and regulations associated with those partners;Comfort and ability to steward and build relationships with existing and prospective partners at all levels, and demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to build respectful relationships with colleagues from different cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds;Excellent interpersonal skills, including flexibility and a sense of humor;Understanding and application of best practices in donor-centered fundraising; andExperience working in various cloud business platforms, productivity tools, and online workspaces (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, SharePoint, Power of BI, etc.).Seed does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, handicap, age, religion, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin.
