N99427 Graphic Artist, TahlequahJob SummaryThis position performs graphic design duties in the production of marketing materials.MAJOR DUTIESDesigns and creates printed and published materials in support of university recruitment, development and branding operations.Works with other departments to create effective and attractive promotional materials.Ensures that all design materials fall within brand guidelines.Works with vendors to obtain bids; reviews vendor work to ensure quality and completeness.Operates and maintains a wide-format printer.Assists in the supervision of student graphic artist.Performs related duties as assigned.Knowledge Required By The PositionKnowledge of design and layout principles.Knowledge of graphic arts principles and practices.Knowledge of printing practices.Knowledge of branding principles.Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs.Skill in decision making and problem solving.Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.Skill in oral and written communication. SUPERVISORY CONTROLSThe Communications Director/Assistant Director assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.GUIDELINESGuidelines include university branding standards. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORKThe work consists of varied graphic design duties. Short-notice deadlines contribute to the complexity of the position.The purpose of this position is to provide graphic design support for university communication and marketing efforts. Success in this position contributes to the effective communication of information to the general public and to interested parties.CONTACTSContacts are typically with co-workers, other university personnel, faculty, staff, students, other design professionals, and members of the general public.Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, or to provide services.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table.The work is typically performed in an office. SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITYNone.Minimum QualificationsKnowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Oklahoma for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
