Job PurposeThe Head of Accounts is responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the organization. This includes reconciliation, financial reporting, compliance with regulations, managing payroll, supervising accounts staff, and safeguarding the company’s assets. The role provides strategic financial advice to management and ensures the company’s financial integrity.Key Responsibilities1.     Carry out reconciliation of all financial transactions within the company.2.     Oversee and supervise the activities of Clearing Officers and Claims Officers.3.     Promptly prepare and submit reports of shortages and overages from branches/account officers.4.     Review and approve claims requests in line with company policy.5.     Manage the company’s financial database (including back-up systems) while ensuring confidentiality of financial data.6.     Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and produce reports (profit and loss statements, financial summaries) bi-annually, annually, or as directed by management.7.     Ensure all accounting activities comply with standard financial regulations and company financial policies.8.     Ensure timely compliance with statutory requirements such as PAYE, VAT, and other government tax filings.9.     Oversee payroll and salary disbursement in collaboration with the HR/Admin department.10. Liaise with banks and financial institutions to manage the company’s financial risks.Required Qualifications & Skills Education & Certifications·       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.·       Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, ANAN, CPA) is mandatory.·       Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in financial management, accounting, or auditing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/leadership role.Skills & Competencies·       Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax laws, and financial regulations.·       Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, ERP systems) and MS Excel.·       Excellent analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.·       Strong leadership, supervisory, and team management abilities.·       High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality in handling financial data.·       Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.·       Strong ability to manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and regulators.
