Job Description

DutiesUnder general supervision, with some latitude for independent initiative and decision making, the selected candidate will perform responsible work in support of the Leased Housing Department, Inspection Unit, Certification Team. The Unit is responsible for inspecting all subsidized units on the Section 8 program to ensure they are maintained in accordance with Housing Quality Standards (HQS) and the National Standards for the Physical Inspection of Real Estate (NSPIRE). Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Work closely and collaborate with Section 8 Inspection Unit staff. Review and evaluate Certification of Completed Repairs and other inspection related documents. Associate inspection related documents to the Section 8 case. Reinstate/suspend Section 8 subsidy, based on inspection status of Section 8 unit and/or public space. Calculate Section 8 subsidy payment adjustments for HQS Reinstatements, ensuring payment is processed in accordance with NYCHA/Leased Housing policies and procedures. Contact and inform tenants and/or landlords of Section 8 inspection status. Answer inspection related Correspondences from tenants, landlords and other entities. Initiate and process termination action for inspections, in accordance with procedures. Complete unit reports. Undergraduate college credit may be substituted for experience on the basis of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of satisfactory full-time experience. However, all candidates must have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent.Preferred Skills Ability to perform work under time-sensitive deadlines. - Ability to work with others to perform duties. - Knowledge of Siebel system, with ability to navigate program to obtain queries and process cases. - Advanced computer skills, including competency in Excel. - Excellent organizational, written, verbal and interpersonal skills.55a ProgramThis position is also open to qualified persons with a disability who are eligible for the 55-a Program.
