As a Recreation Manager you are responsible for leading the Pool, Beach and recreation operations of the resort. The recreation manager must set and maintain the highest levels of guest experience, drive cabana experience, coordinate daily resort activities and contribute to the achievement of the department’s financial goals. Job Duties and Functions: Actively monitor the guest experience through ongoing, in-person interactions, ensuring service excellence and anticipating guest needs. Lead by example, setting high standards of professionalism, hospitality, and teamwork across all Pool, Beach, and Recreation operations.
Plan, coordinate, and execute diverse wellness and recreation activities tailored to the resort’s guest profile. Collaborate with third-party vendors for specialized activities, ensuring seamless execution and accurate, timely invoicing. Strategically manage cabana and recreation revenue in line with seasonal trends and occupancy levels, optimizing profitability through effective pricing and availability. Oversee all purchasing, payroll, and inventory control procedures for the Pool, Beach, and Recreation departments. Cultivate an inclusive and positive work environment where all team members feel valued and empowered. Ensure Pool & Beach area is exceptionally clean, well maintained and tidy at all times.
Convey any potential maintenance, housekeeping, safety, and operational issues to the proper department official. Work closely with loss prevention to ensure the proper training of the team in safety procedures and keep the safety of our guests as a priorityOrganize and facilitate regular departmental training meetings; provide ongoing coaching and counseling using appropriate performance management tools. Performs other duties and attends meetings, as assigned by hotel/department leadershipEducation and Experience: Prior experience as Pool & Beach Manager / Recreation Manager at a luxury hotel or resortStrong understanding of Forbes/ AAA luxury standards and their implementation.
Ability to perform duties while exposed to varying outdoor conditions typical of a tropical climate, including prolonged sun, humidity, and heat. Strong understanding of departmental P&L and labor management. Strong understanding of Opera, HotSos and other hotel systems. Solid knowledge of MS Office. Ability to lift and move up to 50 poundFlexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends and holidays. This position is at a location where Hyatt is not the employer.
