PKU Shenzhen is seeking a qualified individual with native-level English, Chinese language proficiency and a strong work ethic to guide the internationalization efforts of the university-wide administration.Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (PKUSZ) is a satellite graduate campus of China’s prestigious Peking University. It was established in 2001 and currently has over 3000 graduate students. Two of the academic schools offer English taught programs: the HSBC Business School (PHBS) and the School of Transnational Law (STL). Furthermore, each year, it is home to 200+ international students who come from over 50 different countries worldwide.Position: Administrative, Full-timeLocation: Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, ChinaContract: 3 years with possibility of renewalPosition DescriptionThe international affairs coordinator (IAC) is responsible for providing comprehensive support to the internationalization efforts of PKUSZ and managing the school’s English-language news media. The IAC offers direct service to international students as a community resource and collaborator across multiple departments. In addition, the IAC contributes to strategic planning and facilitates the implementation of internationalization plans, evaluates progress and models effective intercultural communication practices. Ideal candidates must be creative, open-minded and quick to learn and adapt.The IAC works within the International Affairs Office of PKU Shenzhen and reports to the office director Prof. Zhou Qiang.Main ResponsibilitiesPlan and manage the Orientation of new incoming international studentsManage and update the PKU Shenzhen English websiteAssist with international affairs, including making arrangements for international visitors, international conferences and translating school materialsAssist faculty with the development of international partnerships and internationalization policyPlan on-campus and off-campus cross-cultural eventsLiaise with university offices and maintain comprehensive information and support services regarding international studentsManage the English-language media team and social media accounts and create high-quality content to be shared across various platformsCollaborate and build relationships with community organizations to plan events and promote international student community engagementManage the Campus Advisor program, Chinese student assistants who assist with international student supportAptly respond to student emergencies and unexpected circumstances and ensure student safetyOther duties as assignedRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degreeNative English speaker with excellent writing skills2 years of related work experienceWorking proficiency in Mandarin ChinesePreferred QualificationsDegree in education, international education, international relations, communications, management, Chinese or other related disciplineIntercultural competency and respect for diverse backgrounds and culturesExcellent interpersonal skills and a strong interest with working in student servicesExperience creating engaging content for social media or traditional mediaAdministrative work experience at a universityPreferred work and/or study experience in ChinaApplication MaterialsEnglish resume/CVCover letter explaining your fit and reasons for being interestedEnglish writing sample of 500 words of any topic that best supports your applicationRecommendation letter from a previous employerAdditional BenefitsPublic medical insurance (Government Social Security Card)CNY bonus and gifts during the yearOpportunity to rapidly improve Mandarin level in a Chinese language working environmentSubsidized talent apartment or free room on campusInterested applicants should send the following materials to the International Affairs Office at iao@pku.edu.cn: Resume with photo Formal cover letter that outlines your qualifications and experience English writing sample of at least 500 words; any topic that best supports your applicationFeel free to reach out with any questions to Nathan Faber at nathanf@pku.edu.cn.
