Operating across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US, the firm has built a strong track record in identifying world-class research, creating and backing more than 50 start-up companies, many of which originated through its Brandon BioCatalyst program, a unique collaboration between superannuation funds, CSL, government partners and over 50 major medical research institutes and hospitals.Our client is now seeking a (Senior) Investment Manager / QLD BioCatalyst Lead, to play a pivotal role in both the firm’s early-stage investment activities and the ongoing development of Queensland’s biotech and venture capital ecosystem. This position sits within Brandon Capital’s investment team and will also lead Queensland-based initiatives for Brandon BioCatalyst.Working closely with founders, researchers, tech-transfer teams and senior stakeholders, you will lead due diligence on seed-stage opportunities, structure transactions, prepare investment recommendations and support portfolio companies through development and commercialisation. The role also carries a strategic ecosystem-building mandate where you will foster relationships with universities, MRIs, state government partners and investors, while championing sector initiatives across Queensland.We are open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds but ideally, the successful candidate will bring strong technical foundations (PhD/MD preferred) with demonstrated experience in commercialising life science research and some prior investing experience. We will consider candidates with experience gained in technology transfer or business development (ideally at a biotech company) which will be coupled with the strong technical foundations. You will be highly skilled in stakeholder engagement, opportunity assessment, financial and valuation modelling, deal structuring and guiding early-stage teams. A strong understanding of Queensland’s research landscape and networks across the biotech ecosystem will be advantageous.This is a rare and exciting opportunity to take a leadership role in one of the region’s most influential life sciences investment platforms.
