Position Summary JOB DESCRIPTION The Mechanical Engineer supports new product development for the company’s Thermal global products. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the physical design of new products as part of a cross-functional group. This engineer must be a practical hands-on type of engineer who can start with an abstract concept and see it through to product launch.ResponsibilitiesDesign new computer room air conditioning (CRAC) productsDevelops solutions to complex problems where little or no precedence exists - the use of ingenuity and creativity is regularly requiredCreates/modifies mechanical Parts/Assemblies/drawings in CAD systems, such as Creo and/or Solid Edge.Create and maintain Bill of Materials and unit configurator logic to select the correct BOM’s based on options selected by the customer. Works with Marketing, Manufacturing, Service and Quality to understand their requirements to design a product that best meets all their needs.Assist with prototype builds by providing technical support and providing guidance when issues arise. Gather feedback from prototype builds and field trials and implement appropriate improvements to the product.Understands the products, suggest ideas and improvements.Assists with troubleshooting of escalated or re-occurring field issues.Interact with outside vendors and suppliers as needed.Participate in identification of cost reduction opportunities and in the design and development of cost reduction changes.QualificationsBachelor’s or associate degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.Basic working knowledge of mechanical and electrical concepts, products and safety. CAD tools experience - PTC Creo 8+ (preferred), Solid Edge, and/or Solid Works. Experience with sheet metal, piping and assemblies is a plus.Data-entry systems familiarity - Oracle, Agile, Windchill, etc. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to solve (and prevent) a wide range of problems quickly and methodically. Detail oriented. Excellent planning, organizing, documentation, and communication skills.PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDSMust be able to work in the lab or production facility to diagnose and solve problems.Light Lifting (5-25 Ibs.)Frequent StandingOccasional kneeling / crawling / stooping Occasional bending / twistingTravel RequiredTravel to the production factory in Apodaca for product launch.About The TeamWork AuthorizationNo calls or agencies please.
