You will be working with a high performing team and have exposure to large scale legal matters and projects.About The RoleThis role will help V/Line to make informed strategic choices within an acceptable legal risk profile by understanding pressure points, strategy and objectives and effectively communicating to internal clients the legal risks and issues involved. Duties: Providing legal advice and support to various business units within V/Line. Supporting Senior Leaders in the Office of the General Counsel with management of legal matters. Assisting the Head of Corporate Governance with matters related to V/Line’s governance functions and supporting internal stakeholders with governance matters. Providing legal advice on a broad variety of legal issues including general commercial contractual matters, construction, procurement, litigation, OHS, safety regulation, environmental, employment, and administrative law. Undertaking legal research, interpreting applicable laws and keeping abreast of changes in the law. Supporting the development of internal governance frameworks. About You Our ideal candidate will possess the following: Tertiary qualifications in Law: LLB Current Victorian Practising Certificate (or ability to obtain one prior to commencement) Post admission in-house legal experience will be well regarded (highly desirable) Previous experience in legal governance or governance roles will be well regarded (highly desirable) Proficiency in Microsoft Office (highly desirable) Understanding of terms and concepts relevant to the rail industry or the public sector (highly desirable) Ability to work on concurrent and diverse matters Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Ability to multitask and priorities effectively Demonstrated alignment to V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights Remuneration for this position is commensurate to the successful candidate’s aligned skills and experience to the position.In addition to free Myki travel, we offer: Community impact – Make a genuine difference.
