Department: AcademicReports to: Programme LeadLocation: Tower Hill, Brentford, CroydonContract Type: Full-Time, Part-time (Weekdays, Evenings & Weekends)Salary: Dependant on experience and qualificationsClosing date: 28th Nov 2025London Academy for Applied Technology (LAAT) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Full Time Faculty position to join our expanding team and support the delivery of the BSc (Hons) in Business programme, delivered in collaboration with Plymouth Marjon University.LAAT currently operates from three campuses based at Tower Bridge, Brentford and Croydon. As a multi-centre provider, with around 1000 students, we offer courses across all levels from Foundation to Top-Up on the BSc (Hons) in Business course, as well as other programs.Job Purpose We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced faculty at an appropriate point on our progression ladder which includes roles such as module leader, level lead, cohort lead, assistant programme lead or programme lead.The person appointed will join a progressive team involved in the delivery of a range of modules and/or academic management, on the BSc (Hons) in Business delivered in partnership with the Plymouth Marjon University. They will deliver high-quality teaching, learning, assessment, and academic support across our Business Management programmes, helping students develop analytical, critical-thinking, and entrepreneurial skills. You will act as a Module Lead for designated modules and contribute to curriculum quality, programme enhancement, and student success. The role includes structured training and mentoring to support your progression toward Cohort/Level Lead responsibilities.Key TasksThe person appointed will be responsible to the Programme Lead and ultimately to the Academic Dean, for the following: -·      Teach effectively on all levels of the BSc (Hons) Business programme which may include timetabled lessons or cover as and when needed, both f2f and virtual.·      Thoroughly prepare suitable teaching, learning and assessment materials for a range of courses/classes and make use of a variety and appropriate learning and teaching methods.·      If acting as a module lead, prepare learning and assessment materials; develop and maintain the curriculum area’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and incorporate the use of digital technologies/ILT to enhance learning experiences.·      Have available an up-to-date syllabus and scheme of work showing methods of delivery for each course/class taught and to lodge a copy of this information with the Academic Coordinator·      Complete promptly and accurately all class records including the register of attendance and tracking of learner progress against targets.·      Maintain progress tracking sheets for your classes and coordinate with mentors if required.·      Report any variations to the agreed class timetable to the Academic Coordinator and the Programme Lead and obtain permission for any long term or planned changes.·      Be flexible to suit the business needs in terms of teaching during evenings and weekends.·      Keep records as required of all learners assessed work and report progress or otherwise at appropriate meetings.·      Follow all agreed Quality Assurance and Risk Management Systems operating in the College and contribute generally to the establishment and development of a quality provision/service.·      Teach, relevant to subject specialism, up to 24 hours of teaching. Remission of teaching hours will be provided if undertaking module/cohort leadership.·      Undertake the normal administrative duties required of lecturers including assistance with admissions (including interviews at welcome evenings for prospective learners), enrolment, induction and providing management information as required.·      Participate in the meetings related to the module delivery and student progression and provide inputs/ideas to improve module delivery and student progression·      Be willing to peer observe other faculty members and share good practices·       Interviewing and giving guidance to potential students.·      Assisting students in their progression to the next levels of the course – both academic and pastoral support·      To contribute to the development and continual improvement of courses, co-ordinating effectively with both staff and students.·      To assist in sharing the marking workload with colleagues.Key Responsibilities 1. Teaching & Learning·        Deliver engaging, inclusive, and innovative teaching across Levels 4–6 (with Level 3 & 7 desirable).·        Lead and develop business modules, ensuring high-quality learning experiences.·       Produce lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching materials aligned with curriculum and awarding-body requirements.·    Use a range of teaching strategies, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to maximise engagement and outcomes.·        Deliver classes in-person and/or online as required.·        Provide academic and pastoral support through tutorials, guidance, and drop-in sessions.2. Assessment & Examination·        Design and set coursework, assignments, and assessments.·        Mark formative and summative work with constructive feedback aligned to internal and external criteria.·        Maintain accurate assessment records and meet all submission deadlines.·        Participate in standardisation, internal verification, moderation, and examination boards.·        Prepare students for internal and external examinations and support with invigilation when required.3. Student Support & Progress Monitoring·        Provide structured academic support to help students progress and achieve.·        Monitor attendance, engagement, and academic performance.·        Participate in student reviews, progress boards, and related academic processes.·        Maintain a supportive, inclusive learning environment.4. Programme Development & Quality Assurance·        Contribute to curriculum development, review cycles, and enhancements.·        Ensure teaching and assessment practices meet sector standards and internal quality requirements.·        Maintain up-to-date knowledge of subject-area developments, pedagogy, and industry practice.·        Engage in research, scholarly activity, enterprise, or external partnership initiatives as appropriate.5. Leadership Development (Progression to Level Lead)·        Undertake structured training and mentoring toward programme-level responsibilities.·        Support curriculum planning, student progression monitoring, and quality reporting.·        Assist with timetabling, tutor coordination, and responding to student and stakeholder queries.·     Shadow Programme/Cohort Lead duties and attend relevant management meetings and CPD sessions.6. General Duties·        Participate in team meetings, staff development activities, and quality improvement initiatives.·        Uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity, health & safety, and institutional policies.·        Maintain professionalism and act as a role model for students and colleagues.Essential Criteria·        A Bachelor’s degree and preferably a postgraduate qualification in Business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.·        Experience of teaching in Higher or Further Education, including developing course materials.·        Evidence of innovative, inclusive pedagogy.·        Strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.·        Commitment to student achievement and continuous improvement.·        Awareness of current industry practice and strong professional networks.Desirable Criteria·        Fellowship of the HEA (or working toward it).·        PhD or equivalent professional/research standing.·        Experience teaching at Level 3 and/or Level 7.·        Experience with assessment, verification, or quality assurance processes.·        Experience in leadership, coordination, enterprise, research, or external partnerships.·        Familiarity with virtual learning environments (e.g., Moodle, Teams).Benefits·        CPD and leadership development opportunities.·        Access to staff wellbeing programmes.·        Pension scheme.·        Flexible working and annual leave arrangements.If this role resonates with your experience and passion for student support, we’d love to hear from you.
