Position: Managing PartnerOrganization: Indonesia based, mission driven initiativeLocation: Indonesia, remote or hybridType: Full time, permanentTravel: 30 to 40 percent within IndonesiaOur client is looking for a Managing Partner to lead an Indonesia based initiative that is working at the intersection of impact investing, sustainable business and local development.About the organizationWe are an Indonesia based initiative that believes inclusive growth can start from the ground up, especially in districts whose economies are closely linked to forests, peatlands and other critical ecosystems. We work on the development of sustainable businesses in these districts and we make sure they stay connected to their surrounding landscapes, so that local people can prosper while forests and peatlands are protected. Our purpose is to help green and sustainable local businesses grow, connect them to markets and finance, and make sure the people who produce, process and trade actually benefit from that growth.We work with funders, the private sector, and public institutions. We are building a portfolio of programs that can be used in more than one region. We build close relationships with participants so that the support they receive, from business strategy to market access and well being, is contextual and aligned with their value chain.For selected ventures outside the main program we provide venture building support to strengthen the basics and to unlock value chain connectivity. Our ecosystem approach connects actors across the value chain such as farmers, processors, aggregators and buyers. We also foster partnerships with investors, local governments and entrepreneur support organizations.We already have core funding in place. We are actively seeking to diversify and expand our funding base. This is needed to match our ambition to move closer to inclusive and sustainable development in Indonesia. We are now recruiting a Managing Partner to lead the organization into its next phase of growth.Role purposeThe Managing Partner leads the strategic direction and future readiness of the organization. The role is responsible for building impactful businesses first and then translating that impact into meaningful climate and environmental outcomes. It also carries accountability for long-term sustainability, leadership discipline, alignment across the system, and institutional resilience.The person in this role also ensures that Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) are embedded across the organization in line with our safeguarding policies and our collaborative leadership culture.In the first eighteen months, we want the Managing Partner to secure new funding, bring in new partnerships, and help make our model more repeatable in the regions where we work.This is a senior executive role. It requires the ability to combine strategic foresight with operational excellence. The Managing Partner is expected to guide growth and stability, to promote collaboration, and to uphold our commitment to ethical, inclusive, and impactful leadership. The role also serves as a facilitator for the “Collegial Collective”, providing mentoring and leadership guidance to other members of the “Collegial Collective”. The Managing Partner reports to a board level body that provides overall direction.Key responsibilitiesStrategic direction and governanceProvide clear guidance for organizational growth, for governance and for planned leadership transitions so that the institution stays sustainable and can continue its work.Vision and organizational growthDesign and run a three-to-five year strategic roadmap and OKR plan that focuses on growth, financial resilience and measurable impact. This includes revenue, funding and program milestones.Fundraising and partnershipsCreate and implement a fundraising and partnership strategy. Build relationships with donors, impact oriented investors and ecosystem partners so that the organization can expand its reach and strengthen its financial position.Ecosystem integrationMaintain strong working relationships with relevant ecosystem platforms, capital partners and strategic allies. Make sure that collaboration across organizations brings collective results.Program qualityOversee the use of the organization’s main collaboration or framework model. Make sure that programs and value chains are connected, that they follow impact investing trends and that they respond to Indonesia’s social and environmental priorities.Communication and alignmentLead regular all hands meetings and strategic reviews. Make sure the leadership team, the board and external stakeholders share the same understanding of the mission, values and direction.Mentorship and representationAct as mentor, spokesperson and bridge between the organization and its partners. Represent the purpose of the organization with empathy, clarity and integrity.Profile we are looking forMinimum 10 years of professional experienceAt least 5 years in organizational leadership or senior management in development, impact, sustainability or ecosystem buildingProven experience representing an organization to senior external stakeholders such as funders, government or private sector leadersA proven record of growing or strengthening an organization or business, with both strategic thinking and disciplined executionThe ability to design, explain and deliver long term strategies while keeping different stakeholders alignedFamiliarity or experience in marine, blue economy or forestry, especially in relation to sustainable value chains and climate resilient local development, will be considered an advantage.Strong communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and EnglishReporting and authorityThe Managing Partner acts under authority that is delegated by the board. The Managing Partner is responsible for team management, annual budget execution and external representation within approved plans.
