We are a passionate, impact-driven team building the future of accessible healthcare. ROLE DESCRIPTIONThis is a full-time 12-month fixed-contract internship role for a Marketing and Client Support Intern, based in the Johannesburg Metropolitan Area. The intern will support marketing initiatives, conduct market research, assist in executing marketing strategies, and support sales efforts when needed. You will be responsible for generating excitement and acquiring new healthcare providers (our clients) and patients (our customers) through strategic marketing, and then ensuring their success and loyalty through world-class support. Additional responsibilities include delivering high-quality customer service to clients and ensuring their satisfaction by effectively communicating and resolving issues.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES MarketingContent Creation: Develop compelling marketing materials (emails, social media content, one-pagers, blog posts, events, etc.) that clearly articulate Athena's value proposition to healthcare providers and patients. Lead Generation: Execute multi-channel marketing campaigns (email, LinkedIn, targeted outreach, events) to build a pipeline of interested healthcare practices. Digital Presence: Assist in managing our social media channels and website to build brand awareness and credibility within the healthcare sector. Partnership Marketing: Work with the team to create co-marketing initiatives with our partner providers. Feedback Loop: Use insights from client interactions to inform marketing messaging and product development. Client SupportCustomer Support: Assist in being the point of contact for our partner healthcare providers, answering questions and resolving issues via email, phone, and WhatsApp promptly and professionally. Relationship Management: Build strong, trusting relationships with practice managers and administrative staff. Proactively check in to ensure they are successful and happy. Problem Solving: Troubleshoot technical or process-related issues, collaborating with the tech team when necessary to find swift solutions. Voice of the Customer: Document and synthesise client feedback, feature requests, and pain points to help us continuously improve our product and service WHO YOU ARE:A Natural Communicator: You have exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English and other South African languages. You can explain complex concepts simply and with empathy. Empathy is your Superpower: You genuinely enjoy helping people and solving their problems. You are patient, a great listener, and remain calm under pressure. Proactive & Hungry: You have a startup mindset—you’re self-directed, resourceful, and excited by the opportunity to build processes from the ground up. You don’t wait to be told what to do. Tech-Savvy: You are comfortable with digital tools (e.g., CRM systems, email marketing platforms, social media schedulers, Google Workspace) and can learn new software quickly. Mission-Aligned: You are passionate about making a tangible social impact in South Africa and believe in our mission to increase access to healthcare. Black (African, Coloured Indian) South African Citizens as per B-BBEE DefinitionYouth: Aged between 18-34Must be currently unemployedYouth must not have participated in a Youth Employment Services Program prior.
