Job Description

Manager, Marketing – Northern BI Location: Halifax, NS (Hybrid within Atlantic Canada) Reports to: President & COO Direct Reports: 1 (Marketing Coordinator) About Northern BI Northern BI (an operating company of Kerr Group) is a fast-growing provider of connected fleet and telematics solutions across Canada. We serve a diverse customer base that includes large government, enterprise, and mid-market organizations, and we are continuing to expand our footprint across Canada and into the U.S. We are entering an exciting stage of evolution - expanding our product mix to help customers achieve stronger ROI, growing share of wallet, and driving higher ARPU through enhanced solutions that deliver measurable results. With extremely high customer retention, we’re leveraging that strength to further expand our customer base and deepen existing relationships. Our next phase of growth focuses on acquisition, expansion, and brand leadership - ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional value and experience. We’re looking for a Manager of Marketing who can help shape and execute the next chapter of Northern BI’s growth story, while also supporting broader marketing initiatives across the Kerr Group. The focus will be on Northern BI, but this role will contribute to other Kerr Group brands and projects as needed.  The Role This is a hands-on, mid-level leadership role designed for a strong marketing practitioner ready to step into a management position. You’ve likely seen effective marketing systems and brand strategies in action and are eager to apply those lessons in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment. Reporting directly to the President & COO, you will develop and execute marketing strategies that drive new customer acquisition, revenue expansion within existing accounts, and brand loyalty through retention and engagement programs. You’ll work closely with Sales, Product, Operations, and Customer Success Management to align messaging, customer engagement, and go-to-market execution. You’ll also oversee a Marketing Coordinator and collaborate with agency partners as needed. This role requires someone who can balance strategy and execution - someone comfortable shaping plans, building processes, and making things happen.  Key Responsibilities Marketing Strategy & Leadership • Collaborate with leadership to refine Northern BI’s marketing and brand strategy to support growth across Canada and the U.S. • Design and execute integrated campaigns that drive lead generation, customer retention, and product adoption. • Build marketing programs that balance acquisition with share of wallet and ARPU growth across our customer base. • Partner with the Customer Success Management team to develop communication programs that support retention, satisfaction, and expansion. • Provide mentorship and direction to the Marketing Coordinator, ensuring alignment, collaboration, and quality execution across initiatives. Brand, Communications & Content • Define and strengthen Northern BI’s brand positioning, tone, and visual consistency. • Develop messaging that reflects our focus on customer outcomes, ROI, and innovation. • Oversee creation of content including web, email, presentations, case studies, and marketing materials to support sales and storytelling.  Customer Acquisition & Retention Marketing • Lead development of marketing campaigns to attract new customers and engage existing ones. • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to refine lead generation, qualification, and retention processes within our CRM. • Implement initiatives such as client advisory boards, customer panels, and feedback programs that deepen relationships and strengthen retention. • Drive cross-sell and upsell programs aligned to product expansion priorities. Digital, Events & Engagement • Oversee website management, SEO/SEM, and social strategy. • Build and manage dashboards to measure campaign performance and marketing ROI. • Lead planning and execution of customer events, partner sessions, industry tradeshows, and regional roadshows to drive awareness, engagement, and brand visibility. • Develop event strategies that support lead generation, product education, and customer relationship-building, ensuring each event reflects Northern BI’s white-glove experience.  About You • 5–7 years of marketing experience, ideally in B2B technology, SaaS, or service-based markets. • Hands-on across multiple marketing channels (digital, content, campaigns, events) - not just directing others. • Skilled communicator who can craft messaging that resonates with technical and executive audiences. • Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Customer Success. • Analytical and metrics-driven mindset - you measure impact and optimize performance. • Curious, adaptable, and proactive; able to balance strategy and execution in a fast-evolving business.  Why This Role This is a unique opportunity to shape a growing brand, build modern marketing programs from the ground up, and make a visible impact on how Northern BI grows across Canada and the US. You’ll work directly with senior leadership, have influence on company direction, and gain experience across the full customer journey - from acquisition to long-term retention. You’ll thrive here if you’re motivated by ownership, collaboration, and creating tangible impact in a company that values innovation, accountability, and people.
