Job Title: Materials ScientistLocation: Glascoed, Gwent – on siteSalary: up to £43649 depending on skills and experienceWhat You’ll Be DoingLeading and delivering projects in a timely mannerApplying materials science to identify the root cause(s) of failuresCollaborating with various stakeholders such as internal engineers, supply chains and universities to develop new materials and coatings to future proof productsPrepare technical documentation, project plans, risk assessments and Standard Operating ProceduresPreparing and testing materials and subsequently analysing the data produced from test resultsAdvising engineering teams on testing protocolsYour Skills And ExperiencesA recognised material science qualification, preferably to degree level, but minimum HND/HNC, ideally in Chemistry or Materials ScienceA good knowledge of non-metallic materials, paints, sealants, adhesives and/or metal treatments.An understanding of National and International Standards.Experience in writing risk assessments and reportsWorking with multiple teams , good communication, problem solving, SMEBenefitsAs well as a competitive pension scheme, BAE Systems also offers employee share plans, an extensive range of flexible discounted health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits, including a green car scheme, private health plans and shopping discounts – you may also be eligible for an annual incentive.The Material TeamThe materials team is a small but influential and effective team, supporting numerous product teams across multiple sites to address and resolve their issues.
