Job Description:Reporting directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will be working with a team of professional, dynamic, and talented designers. Must possess a thorough knowledge and working background in automation manufacturing, with excellent design and communication skills.Based on the project, you will be working in a team or independently on a project. They should be well organized, detail-oriented, a self-starter, a self-motivator, team player, and able to resolve issues, as well as manage time and prepare documents accurately. Occasional travel.Role and Responsibilities:Mechanical Design of large and technically complex automation equipmentFE Analysis (Ansys, Solidworks)Actuator, Motor and Servo sizingPneumatic circuit design and calculationsSimulationsSpecific knowledge in automation of press automation (Feeders, Transfer Systems, Tooling etc.)is an asset.Delegate duties and coordinate the design process for a team of internal designers and externalcontractors as required.Communicate project concerns, project status, and design solutions with management, fellowstaff, and clients.In coordination with Project Management, participates in presentations of the design to theclient, and acquires client signoff on the design concept to proceed with detailing andmanufacturing.Works cooperatively with clients, fellow employees, contractors, management, and suppliers.Create and maintain efficiency in the design process.Works in conjunction with the other members of the team, such as the electrical designer andthe mechanical assembler/developer during all stages of machine design/buildCreate mechanical designs that are economical to produce, easy to assemble and simplymaintained.Assists other designers with the mechanical design of larger systems.Review of all required part drawings, and machine build drawings (drafting) as required.Generates Bill of Materials (BOM) for both purchased parts and raw manufactured materials asrequired.Manages all assigned tasks in a neat and timely fashion while striving to maintain budgetedhours.Qualifications and Education RequirementsBachelor’s Degree in engineering from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.Proficiency with computer software programs; Microsoft products, AutoCAD, Solidworks, Ansys,SolidworksAbility to perform FEAAbility to size components, motors, servos etc.Automation experience preferredStrong organizational skills and communication skillsAbility to work independently, multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlinesDemonstrate time management skillsDesign experience with 2D & 3D CAD design an assetExperience in robotic simulation and robotic solutionsUses logic and reasoning to offer solutions to problems
