Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Mechanical EngineerAvailability: Immediately AvailableReporting to: MEP Project ManagerRole Purpose:The Mechanical Engineer undertakes detailed engineering, procurement, and supervision of the installation of Air Conditioning, Fire Fighting, and Plumbing systems for major commercial and light industrial buildings. The role ensures works are executed within project budgets to achieve forecasted profit under the guidance of the Project Manager.Key Objectives:Ensure all mechanical works comply with contract drawings, specifications, and other contract documents.Manage expenditure on mechanical works in accordance with the project budget.Lead the mechanical team, delegating tasks and monitoring progress and completion.Participate in project management and reporting activities.Maintain strong relationships with clients, professional teams, suppliers, and subcontractors.Key Responsibilities:Plan and execute mechanical works, including detailed engineering of projects.Prepare vendor lists, technical details, and quantities for quotation packages.Conduct technical and commercial evaluations of quotations.Develop construction methodology and obtain approval of method statements.Resolve technical challenges in coordination with the professional team.Supervise drafting team and prepare working drawings.Ensure materials and drawings receive approval from the professional team.Schedule material delivery to meet project timelines.Issue approved drawings to site teams and provide construction guidance.Monitor installation progress and quality; record delays and assist in claims valuation.Implement quality assurance plans and site inspection procedures.Plan and oversee commissioning activities.Prepare record drawings, operating manuals, and maintenance documentation.Control mechanical project budgets and identify additional works; support valuation processes.Implement project safety plans.Foster strong business relationships with clients, main contractors, and professional teams.Key Skills & Competencies:Strong engineering knowledge with design, engineering, and installation experience in HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing systems for commercial/light industrial buildings in the GCC.Familiarity with MEP costs, rates, and contracts in Dubai and the GCC.Team management experience (draftsmen, site engineers, foremen, subcontractors).Knowledge of construction processes and practices in the GCC.Excellent English communication skills (oral and written).Awareness of suppliers and subcontractors in the region.Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, and relevant software.Knowledge of Dubai and Abu Dhabi codes, regulations, and specifications, especially for HVAC, Fire Protection, and Plumbing.Ability to interpret drawings and specifications and compile reports.Awareness of quantity surveying standards and contract requirements.Confident, proactive, and able to interact effectively with peers and stakeholders.Education:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed university.Experience:Minimum 10 years of post-graduate experience, including 3–5 years in a similar role.
