They specialize in providing efficient and safe port operations, handling large volumes of containers and heavy equipment, and are committed to technological advancements in mechanical and hydraulic systems for terminal equipment.Role: Mechanical Specialist (Port Equipment & Hydraulic Systems) – Johor, MalaysiaJob Description:The Mechanical Specialist is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of port mechanical equipment, including Quay Cranes (QC), Rubber Tyre Gantry (RTG), and other essential terminal machinery. The role focuses on mechanical system advisory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. You will collaborate with managers, engineers, technicians, and maintenance teams to maintain operational readiness and safety standards.Key Responsibilities:Perform advisory role on mechanical systems, including modifications, operational state, and project acceptance.Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment (QC, RTG, and others).Monitor equipment reliability and implement improvements per project milestones.Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues using testing equipment and technical manuals.Implement preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.Adhere to safety protocols for personnel and equipment.Manage spare parts inventory and tools.Maintain detailed maintenance records and reports.Collaborate with other teams to share knowledge and provide technical support.Respond promptly to emergency maintenance situations.Train and mentor engineering team members.Support departmental objectives, including warranty claims and PMDS evaluation.Requirements / Must-Have:Bachelor’s or Professional Degree in Mechanical / Mechatronic EngineeringRegistered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM)Minimum 10 years’ experience in mechanical engineering or port/heavy equipment industryAt least 3 years in a leadership roleHands-on experience in mechanical and hydraulic systems, including brakes, gearboxes, wire ropes, and structural componentsExperience with container port terminal equipment (QC, RTG) is highly preferredStrong troubleshooting and diagnostic skillsKnowledge of safety regulations in container port operationsAbility to work in physically demanding conditions and various weather situationsProficiency in hand and power toolsExcellent communication and teamwork skillsWillingness to work shifts and respond to emergenciesOffer & Benefits:Permanent positionSalary: Based on current + up to 30% increase (capped around MYR 12,000 gross)Medical coverage includedLocation: On-site in JohorNewly created role – not a replacementWorking Hours:Monday to Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:30 PMSkills Must-Have:Mechanical Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Port Equipment, Quay Cranes (QC), Rubber Tyre Gantry (RTG), Heavy Equipment Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Preventive Maintenance, Leadership, Engineering Judgement, Safety Compliance
